So yeah, I've kind of neglected this thing for about 2 months since I started my job. Same thing happened last summer with my old journal. I just don't like writing in the summer when all I'm doing is working a fulltime dead-end job. There are a few things I've learned in my two months at Meijer though, and while it's not much different from the ( Read more... )

i was wondering where you went!

it's always interesting to read about other people's work because there's so much that goes on that we don't know about. after working in restaurants i have chosen to not eat there on my own will! anywhoo, hope you have a good summer anyway... keep in touch!

"What? You too good for my line??"

That was definitely the high point of my day. How much do you get paid per hours cashiering? Although it sounds like a little slice of hell, I could use more money, although I'll probably wind up applying at Starbucks or something. I hear you on the dead-end job rap. I yearn for the day when I can have a real, 8-5 Monday through Friday job with a salary and benefits. Gaaaaah.

I make 6.90/hr which amounts to (as I've calculated I'm pretty sure) about 5.50/hr after taxes.

Ugh. Retail.

Hopefully all of this soul-squandering consumerist bullshit will just give you fuel to find and land a real job in the near future. With a desk. And a purpose.

My only real deep-seeded fear is that I'll be stuck in this ends-meeting dead-end job jumping lifestyle for many years to come, and this is only the tip of the iceberg for what I'm going to have to put up with in the next few years.

that's what you're going to school for, kiddo. so that you won't be doing this for the rest of your life. don't sweat it. i'm sure you'll be fine. you're smart and capable.
