[The picture shakes violently as it comes on, and glimpses of a tear-stained young lady with long blonde hair can occasionally be seen in the image. The occasional sob or hiccup comes in the first few moments, then the picture falls to an image of lovely fabric, and the girl's voice can be heard, raw from crying and shouting.]Nanny! Nanny, where

What are you cryin' for?

... So. You're parents don't approve. They'll deal.

It isn't that simple. Romeo is a Montague. I'm a Capulet. Our families are feuding.

Who are Pyramus and Thisbe?
Reply
Pyramus and Thisbe are characters in an old story. Their families feuded, but the two spoke to each other through a crack in the wall between their houses in secret, and fell in love. They planned to run away and marry and start life anew, but Thisbe was scared from the meeting place by a lion and fled, leaving behind her shawl. The lion's mouth was bloody from a fresh kill, and he tore her shawl to shreds. Pyramus found it and assumed the lion had killed Thisbe, and so killed himself. And then Thisbe returned to find Pyramus dead, and, overcome with grief, did the same.
We, too, must run away to be together, and my Romeo will go soon. My nanny has gone to Friar Laurence to discover what our plan shall be, so that we do not meet with such misfortune.

Of course, as you said, that is not something I have to worry about for some time, now. Perhaps, if I was brought here, my Romeo will be as well.

Maybe. He's better off not being here, though.

My Nanny tells me he's been exiled by the Prince. What does it matter where he goes? Here is just as good as anywhere else he would have to travel. And here we could be together.

Regardless of my suitability for this place, I am here. And if you think me unsuited to the environment and unable to handle things on my own, then it would be better for Romeo to find himself exiled here, would it not? I would have my husband to protect me and keep me safe.
I am used to madness. My kinsmen fight in the streets daily, the Prince is always sending official warnings to the house, and I was to be married to a fop before I chose Romeo. If this place is worse, I shall bear it with dignity. And if I am truly to be alone, I shall learn to bear it as well.

Well. I didn't mean to upset you. Just be careful of who you speak to, alright?

Sometimes everyone can get carried away, can they not? Thank you for your concern over my well-being. I shall indeed be careful. Yet another thing we learn in Verona is how to spot an enemy. [And by enemy, she of course means a mischievous Montague. Which did her no good, but that doesn't cross her mind.]
