Rent Canon Fic: Snakes inna Loft

Author's Note: This is for snakes_in_a_fic. The time is somewhere around the summer in the middle of canon.

"Collins, honey, I love you, but the song's getting old." Angel looked up from the skirt she was hemming and smiled, almost apologetically at Collins. "We're all thinking it, but Mark's too wrapped up in film developing, and Roger's got his tongue down Mimi's throat."

Looking up from the papers he was correcting, Collins was about to say something, when he froze solid. "Angel, love, don't move. Roger, is there anything in this damn Loft that can be used as a weapon?" Collins stood on his chair, looking down at the floor.

Mark stuck his head out the door before Roger could open his mouth. "What the hell do you want a... why the fuck is there a snake under the couch?" He spluttered for a moment, staring at the snakle winding its way through the legs of the chairs and couch. "Roger, Mimi, don't move. I have no fucking clue what kind of snake that is, but damn, that's a nice shot." Pulling out his camera, Mark squatted against the wall, and filmed the reptile's progres across the floor.

"Not exactly sure, but I'm fairly certain it isn't poisonous." Collins eyed the snake as it wound its way to Roger's couch, where Mimi was already curled up in Roger's lap.

"Can't someone get rid of it?" She clung to Roger a bit, eying the thing on the ground. "But then agin, it's not that bad looking."

Hissing, the snake curled around Roger's leg. "Yeah, it's not all that bad looking if it's not around your -leg-, Mimi." Roger barely had time to say that before it bit him. "Fuck! You sure this thing isn't poisonous, Collins?" Glaring at the snake, he kicks it across the room. "I hope you get AIDS, bastard thing."

"Calm down, Roger." Mark called from across the room. "Collins is right, I think. It's... well, I can't remember what it is, but it won't hurt you. Most domesticated snakes aren't poisonous."

Collins sighed. "Besides, we'll know in five minutes if we need to take you to the hospital. You'll start turning purple..."

"Not funny, Collins" Roger sighed, head falling back on the couch. "Now, not only am I dying slowly, I might be dying faster."

Mimi kissed him. "I that I've seen that snake before. It belongs to the person who lives next door to me downstairs. Trust Collins and Mark."

Angel looked up from the skirt again. "Well, now that we know that Roger's not dying any more than he already was can someone get rid of it? I'm not the Annoying Animal Extermination Squad here."

"I'll get it. You say it belongs to someone downstairs, Mimi?" Collins stood and walked over to where the snake lay stunned against the wall.

Mimi stopped kissing Roger for a moment to turn and nod at Collins. "Yeah, the apartment on the right."

Mark shut off his camera as Collins picked up the snake and left. "Well, that was certainly more film than I'd intended to use today."
