I know I was most excited to see the lovely Mr. Gatiss on stage, and it was not a disappointment. I only saw a small smidge of Mycroft in Meninus ;)
Hiddleston pulled off Corio wonderfully. I have never read the play itself, but with H's performance I felt as if I was really able to get a feeling for this man. The only things I felt could be changed or tightened up was the use of the child...he was a bit superfluous I felt. Additionally, I could sense that Menin was a mentor and strong influence on Corio, but a father-figure...that was a surprise, and I felt could have been played upon more. Those would be my only two real issues with the piece. I would have liked to do a more in-depth review, but alas December was a busy, busy month! This new year a resolution will be to be better with my writing...
Hope to have an opportunity to see you again.
Cheers!

Coriolanus is still much on my mind. It made a huge impact. I'm just sorry that I had to rush off for my train and couldn't chat about it with you at the time. Having seen such an early preview my daughter and I very promptly decided to attend a NT Live screening at the end of this month. We're curious to see how the performances might have matured or altered with repeat performance. Well at least that's our excuse! Just glad to have opportunity to see it all again. :-))
Happy New Year and good luck with the writing resolution!
