Singalong Shakespeare sonnets

As promoted on BBC Breakfast this morning, a potentially interesting new musical homage to the works of William Shakespeare, specifically the sonnets. There is no evidence that Shakespeare's sonnets were ever sung originally, although apparently the earlier Italian sonnets of Petrarch were performed to music in Italy, and Franz Liszt composed works ( Read more... )

Thanks for the videos.

For me personally, I don't like these. I prefer the sonnets as poems and read aloud. No music, just the words.

That being said, if this brings new people to Shakespeare then that is all to the good.

I am probably just being an old fuddy duddy!

It's an interesting concept, but hearing the samples I don't think that this effort has been entirely successful, and I doubt that the album will make much popular impact.
