This remake is actually pretty funny. And the coffee scene came off really well, almost as creepy as in the original. (Bette Midler's breathy vacancy is just so jarring.) This is watchable. But the original is really, really good. Because, yet again, the original is about

Or to put my thoughts more coherently:

Clever horror movie with relevant social satire: awesome.
Moderately amusing comedy that approaches satire in a confused manner when it doesn't gloss over it altogether: meh.
