After that curse, I don't think summer can come fast enough. I've never been a big fan of freezing temperatures.

But is everyone alright? Artemis, Butler, Robin - don't make me check your rooms. Robin, especially.

...

And Major Kelp, if I could speak to you for a moment.

What about?

[He's totally acting like he didn't snog her and then push her onto a lifeboat.]

I did what was needed to make sure you survived.

Don't give me that excuse. If I were your commanding officer, Kelp, I swear...

But you aren't, Holly. I'm the ranking officer.

But what if I were? How would you like it if I didn't give you a say in whether you got to do your job or not, eh?

What if's are useless, Holly. It's already over.

[Storming out of her room, hunting him down. Where is-there. No kiss for you, Major, you get a nice punch instead.]

The hell it is!

[And ow he forgot that pissed off Holly punches hurt.]

Don't you think you're overreacting?!

[Crosses her arms, glares. You'd think it'd be an almost girly sort of stance, but not coming from Holly. Watch out, there might be more on the way.]

No, I don't. Or did you expect me to swoon all over you and your damn heroics?

[He rubs his jaws, his magic kicking in on autopilot to make the forming bruise go away. He looks possibly guilty over the swoon thing but scowls.]

Heroics? You're lecturing me about heroics?

[She's scowling in turn, oh yes. And that might be a scoff at your words, Trouble.]

Don't you you even start on that, Kelp. This isn't about me.

[And now he's getting annoyed, he was trying to do the right thing, dammit.]

Then what is it about, Holly? The fact that you're angry I tried to do the right thing?

[Good question. She shouldn't be this worked up over something like that; Frond knows she would've done the same thing in his position. Maybe it's how she let it happen.]

The fact that you didn't let me have a say in whether I wanted to risk my life or not, sir. That wasn't your decision to make, commanding officer or no.

[... way to weasel out of a real answer, Holly.]

[He's looking frustrated now. Hand through his hair and everything.]

I had a duty to make sure you didn't die, Holly. You know the dead can't leave The City and you were risking everything despite that.

[And he really sucks at communicating effectively.]

[She notices, but doesn't comment. Her eyes, hazel and blue, flash at his words. She grits her teeth to bite back a more scathing retort.]

I've lived through some nasty things, Trouble, in our world and the City. I don't think you should concern yourself with my survival when we're both part of Recon. We signed up knowing the fatality rate of officers - something like that shouldn't stop us from doing our job to the end.

[Like my father are the unsaid words at the end of that. It's worth noting, however, that with each sentence her anger drains a little bit.]
