..not even trying? Honey, you write what you feel. In the end, you don't have to please anybody but yourself. *HUGSS* Not everyone is going to like what you write..I'm speaking generally..but you can't worry about that. Write because it makes you feel good and gives you a means to express yourself. That's what it's really all about. Whether three people are along for the ride or three hundred, do it for YOU. You don't have to take drastic measures and leave this place because some people don't like what you do. That's their problem..and if anything, they are the ones who should be leaving--not you. Common sense: if someone starts to read your story and doesn't like it, they should stop reading. It's not anyone's job or business to tell you how to write or what to write. We get all sorts of writing styles here. Some are sticklers for "canon" (I am). I try to be as realistic and factual with details as possible..but, am I gonna get in someone's face if they're not. No. I'll just stop reading or let it go. Also..everyone has a different ( ... )

Baby, all you have to do is make yourself happy, okay??? *HUGSS* ..'cause if writing is gonna make you miserable, there's something wrong here. Just continue to write if it makes you feel good. If you want to get better, my suggestion is that you try to be as realistic as possible. If that means researching to get the facts and details straight, then go for it. That would not only lend credibility to what you've written, but keep your readers interested. People, for the most part, like their fics to have an element of realism. Yes, we're conjuring up scenarios from our imaginations, but you don't want to be so far-fetched that you lose your audience. You don't want to put them in situations that are so unrealistic that your fic reads like a cartoon...like having Paul swim the English Channel in an hour. ;) We may be writing fiction, but it's serious business, just the same ( ... )

Are you referring to leaving live journal or a comm within it?

I know that, from a writing perspective, I can be kinda picky because a large part of my living consisted of writing--assessments, biographies, etc.

We writers can be kind of an ornery bunch. :)

lol i know that's true. but it a little more of the whole mclennon fandom in general. i make people mad if i write it one way, so i change it to another way and i make the other half mad.

I echo what Jo said: write to make yourself happy, and ignore any criticism that isn't constructive.

You can't make everyone happy.People have their own different taste and you just can't satisfy them all.All you have to do is to follow your heart and write whatever YOURSELF want to.By the way,I love reading your fics>3<
