Where was that piano again?

Oh, and who was it that responded to that last post of mine? Just curious... shoulda responded to it...

[Edited in after speaking with Urd | Screened to Leon | Mostly Hackable]Leon? Urd mentioned you by name. She said to ask you about guns if I wanted one for, well you know, protection, now that the cuffs are gone. ( Read more... )

I think that was me.

Yeah, of course I've heard of Domino! She's legendary! She was one of the few women in the business back in the day, on Earth. I'm actually quite flattered at the comparison~.

[laughter]

I know exactly what you mean! Bounty hunting's pretty much just like that. Actually, I haven't been in the business very long myself... less than a year.

She has a movie or two, yeah. And, uh, you're welcome? [chuckling]

Oh, yeah? It sounds more exciting! Just the words... [laugh] Oh well. It's interesting to see we have that much in common! That's about how long I've been at it, too.

...You mentioned 'back on Earth'? Where--are you from?

There's a movie? Haven't seen it... haven't even heard of it. ...When did that happen?

Everyone who isn't a bounty hunter seems to think it's all glory and romance and adventure. Like you said, most of the time it's just sitting around and waiting, or doing boring research, with the occasional gunfight or close-call with explosives. Danger's probably involved in my job more frequently than in yours... we don't do cheating spouses... but most of the bounty heads are small fry. Hackers, people running out on their debts, small-time drug runners, the like. ...You're right, we do seem to have a lot in common~.

I'm not really from anywhere. Before I got kidnapped, I was living on a ship. It's generally best to stay mobile if you're chasing bounty heads... they could be anywhere in the system.

Yeah, with Kiera Knightley as Domino. Um, sometime during the late 90s or before '05. Not sure exactly.

Thankfully haven't had any close calls with explosives--have been in the middle of a gunfight. Got shot. And tortured. And lost a finger--that wasn't really detective work, but it happened during the same time! Um... but you're right. It isn't like the shows at all most of the time. I don't know how that "Dog" series gets enough viewers to continue...

Ship? System? Like... spaceship? And Solar system?

...Ah. Well that would be why. Keira Knightley... wasn't she in those old pirate movies?

[sympathetic inward hiss of breath]

All that happened to you?! Tough luck, pal. I guess I've got Lady Luck on my side... I seem to have a knack for dodging bullets. I've only had minor injuries so far. ..."Dog"? This a bounty hunting show? Those things are always such crap.

Exactly. You sound surprised. I take it you're all still Earthbound where you come from?

Yes! Although... I never got to finish the series... did you?

I've always been the opposite. Lady Luck doesn't seem to like me very much for some reason. I've never been able to figure it out. Good for you though. It is, and it definitely is that, too.

Yeah. I guess you're not? Wait--does that mean your from a futurist Earth timeline? Sweet!

I think they had a marathon going on the classic movie channel a while ago... I think I watched the whole thing....

My condolences. Well, they say Lady Luck is very fickle~! Perhaps your luck will change.

[laughs]

I guess so. Either that or you have crappy engineers~. But it sounds to me like our worlds are similar, if not the same. ...What year is it, where you come from?

Oh. Well, they hadn't released the second one before I was taken.

Yeah, I think she is. And I hope...

Err, yeah, that's possible, too. Um, it was going on 2006 at the time...

Ah. They did three of them. I'll try not to give you any spoilers~! ...Honestly, I don't remember a lot of details. Like I said, that was a while ago.

Well, there you go. Last I checked, it was 2071. I don't think your engineers can be blamed. You won't have passenger flights to the moon for a few years yet.

Another trilogy, huh? Cool. I'll look forward to it when I get back home.

Niice. Well, I'll look forward to that, too, while I'm at it. [chuckling]

...I like that. "When", not "if". Optimism!

See, look at all the neat things you have to look forward to~! Spaceflight! ...Um, but I'd recommend staying away from those early passenger flights. ...You know, until they work the bugs out.

Yeah, well, it's about all I've got. I'd just rather not think in the other direction so I avoid it. Heh.

Oh, yeah! You're definitely right! It should be a blast. ...Ha! Heh, eh... I'll keep that mind.

Hmm, tell me about it. I mean, I consider myself a realist, not an optimist, but... I really want to get out of here. I will make it happen.

It should be fine by 2015. ...I'd also recommend that you move to Mars as soon as possible. ...Why am I telling you all this?! ...There's probably some law about revealing the future to people, paradoxes and so on... do you think the universe will explode because I told you those things?

Sounds good to me.

I sure as hell hope not. (It hasn't already? Therefore we're safe?) 'Cause I'm writing all this sh-stuff down and following it to a tee!

...Hell, we're probably fine. If kidnapping all of us from every damn place and time and holding us all hostage here together hasn't screwed the space-time continuum, probably nothing will.

Bet you're glad you talked to me, huh~? ...Of course, it's possible your future will be completely different and none of this will ever matter, but... hell, it's not like it's costing either of us anything.
