It hasn't even started production yet. Last I read, it was going to begin in March 2013.
The BBC hasn't set an air date yet, but it was speculated as being "late 2013" with PBS restricted from showing it until after the BBC. With PBS airing shows in blocks in the Masterpiece slot, I'm assuming they'll put it in the first available slot after BBC's done, but still, that's late 2013 or early 2014.
I'm not sure if PBS is unable or unwilling to air in relative synch. I'm thinking it's actually the former, even though they pay for part of the production. They're not factoring the potential for piracy into the formula, because it won't do enough damage to keep them from getting better than normal ratings.
Be nice, but it's doubtful considering the actor's schedules.
They're essentially making three movies, which is the equivalent of 4.5 episodes. When many British shows only have 5 or 6 episodes, we're getting roughly the same amount of time, just concentrated into something more plotty. Though I certainly wouldn't cry if they added at least another movie.
Yeah, but they have to edit it because Masterpiece has to add credits at the beginning and end. Along with the "this is what's going to happen in the episode" intro by an actor.
The BBC may make the cuts, but it's because PBS requires it of them.

I won't even watch it on PBS since they like to cut out my favorite scenes!
They are scheduled to start filming in March and Mark G has said it won't push back the BBC airdate - that's the important thing.
