I've offered my help to Warden Scott in investigating the attack. Seems to me from the descriptions that it was some sort of radioactive bomb- and that's all I've got at present.

Captain! Still trying to narrow everything down with Ambassador Leia Organa. I can tell you this much: it's gamma, and it's devastating. Terrorist stuff, sir. Y'only develop this kind of technology to make it hurt entire populations irreparably. Targets organic stuff, flesh and blood. Starfleet wouldn't touch this with a ten billion foot pole, sir, which might explain why it's a bit foreign t'me. That, or it's entirely alien.

This stuff... it's a step above some of the most complicated bombs I've seen. Whoever they are, the lad or lass is an unquestionably decent engineer, and probably not particular resourceful, either, considerin' the nature of the Barge. Would y'like to see some of the data? Maybe this'll make some sense t'you. Not sure how to proceed, sir.
