Turns out that I was wrong about the book...
It was the NEXT-to-next-to-last book in the series.... book 6, not book 7.
Only discovered this by downloading the final book (8) and wondering why I didn't recall the previous events a few characters were discussing.
Book 7 downloaded now.
This is a total bonus because I'm not as near the end as I'd believed.
