Is there anyone that does a PhD that maintains motivation?

The only one I can think of off-hand finished and wrote up in the minimum possible amount of time (something like 2 years, 1 term), because she had the most incredible job offer EVER - but one which required her to have a PhD (with some wibble room for university bureaucracy/graduation).
