Boredom has led me to post.  Really, there are about ten other things I should be doing right now, but whatever.  List!

I should be going over my license application.

I should be preparing my room for the usual Wednesday morning room inspection festivities (I do the inspecting these days, so it's more to set the example).

How did you end up at such a posh affair? Am I to believe that the boy who ran off to become a 19th Century mariner has grown up to drop $2500 on an evening of hobnobbing? :)

heheh... I took out a loan.

Fortunately, I did not have to pay for my spot there. I was invited along with the other two cadets to be the color guard. This happens fairly frequently, too. I've been to two this semester already, though this was by far the most upscale. It's one of the perks of being in a quasi-military school. It is helpful for networking, too, as most of the dinners and parties that we get to attend are full of maritime industry and military folks.

I didn't really buy a raffle ticket, either. It was a little out of my reach. :)
