Since the start of the year I've been constructing a battleship.  It's only a model.  On the weekends I leave my prison here at school and travel to the promised land of Julie's apartment in Stamford.  There, in a box and on a small table, is my project.  I move this promptly and take over the entire living room table for the duration.  Of course, ( Read more... )

Very impressive! I just picked up a model of the Reagan last year, and found this wonderful little hobby shop in Tustin that has kits that are LONG out of production; picked up an F-8 Crusader and RA-5C Vigilante from there last weekend. Soon as I move into my new place I'll have the room to start building them! Obviously, that's not the Revell kit you're building, is it? The fit and finish of the kit looks too clean to be that one...

Thanks! You are correct on that one. This is the Trumpeter kit. It's a little pricey, but their line of kits are pretty awesome. The photo-etched parts I have are from Gold Medal Models.

I'm trying to decide what I'm going to build next. I already picked up plans for the Massachusetts (BB-59) and also for the Yorktown (CV-10). But then, maybe I'll build a Dauntless... I have plans for them, too.

Clearly we need like ten or fifteen of these bad boys and a basketball court. I'll go get a laser rangefinder.

My shipyard would be seriously backlogged constructing a fleet of these. Besides, your battlecruiser couldn't penetrate my armor!

Seriously though (can this be serious?) people build models this size and bigger, arm them with BB's and float them on ponds. Then, they go and sink each other.
