Sorry to use your post for commenting this, but I didn't feel like posting a new post to ask what's going on with the background xD. I'll comment properly your post some day, now I'm super busy =(, can't read anything longer than a short paragraph.

Great atmosphere and character analysis (his tolerance to substances from an early age). Aww, poor Pickles: he knows he'd get into trouble, either way, no matter what he'd do. Actually, the swans are a fine metaphor for his later success and Seth attempting to ruin things for him.

It was just a vague "swans attack Seth" idea but when I went looking for the Rehabklok kiddie caps and saw this one again... it just happened.
Poor Pickles was not a happy kid.

::evil evil laugh:: Serves Seth right for bothering with Swans and nice research! Grey Pilgrim Geese will do the same and both species bite horribly. No wonder Pickles likes Swans. Dethklok might have Australian Black Swans around for just that reason -- to amuse Pickles and bite others.

If by "research" you mean watching a few swan attack videos on youtube! I have no personal experience with Swans, but have been attacked by a goose before. Silly thing, it loved my dad and tried to get anyone else.
I decided to spare him the bite and had it only catch shirt, I'm not sure if they bike and twist like geese. I couldn't confirm they break bones either, but it's a common enough story to use anyway.

I've been attacked by a few geese myself, once right before my parents hauled me off to church (ack) I ended up with this huge bruise over most of my neck and down my shoulders. Silly thing she must have gotten me right on the cartotid.

I do think that swans bite and twist like their Sisters. I know their wings, like the wings of eagles can break a man's arm, not least a boys.....heh heh heh forgive me an evil snicker over Seth's fate.

Seth is one of those kids that just needs to get his ass kicked. Somehow. Swans will work.

This is really good background for that screencap. Probably also a reason why he's alluded to being out at the lake a couple times in the show (like the Dethmas ep. when they had to go shopping with the Moms).

The cap pretty much wrote the first half of this I just went with it.

And actually, I don't remember him mentioning it... gotta check that out because I'm curious now.
