Welcome back, Charles. I don't know how you did it, but it's good to see you back amongst the living.

Toki, I'll give you a hundred bucks if you would rat out Skwisgaar sleeping with Sarah.

I kinda think that was the best concert they ever played so far. Having the band members rate all the natural disasters was brilliant.

I had no idea how to "write" a concert; it's something that doesn't translate well to the written medium, as we saw in the comics. So I just showed their reactions between sets and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.

If it wasn't obvious from the story, Ejvind had enough energy by the end of the to both save the world (though he needed Selatcia's help to do it) and bring Charles back to enough health that Charles could be mobile, at least temporarily.

That's what I get from watching every episode with any amount of Charles in it like 30 times.

Just let them play. The band, not the eight-legged horses.

*suddenly kinda wants to see the horses attempt to play something, anything*

No matter what else is going on, when it's time for Pickles to hit that counter, it is time for Pickles to hit that counter.

Hell yeah, acid volcano and transparent dinosaur! :D I knew some awesome shit was going to go down as a result of that concert, but I would have never have guessed it would include those sorts of awesome shit.

And hell yeah to Charles being properly back in the world of the living, too! :D Loved seeing his distinctive "reaction to the boys booking a gig without him" reaction put in an appearance, which also made for a great note on which to end the chapter.

I'm just confess my two inspirations here:

(1) the Soundgarden video Brendan directed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K913KVe3kH8

(2) The season finale of season 1 of Avatar: the Last Airbender, where Aang takes the form of the moon spirit.

Also, more Avatar stuff: Aang's final boss in the series is Fire Lord Ozai, who is voiced by Mark Hamill ... who voices Selatcia. A friend of mine saw Selatcia for the first time and said, "Oh, Hamill's just playing the Fire Lord again!"

FUCK YES

YOU WIN

I'm sorry, I'm too busy squeeing and laughing and bouncing in my seat to form a coherent comment. Seriously, my parents are looking at me like I'm insane.

I lost it at the eight-legged horses, and then it just kept getting better.

FUCK YEAH, CHARLES. FUCK YEAH, DETHKLOK.

Basically whatever Scandanavian mythology I could research REALLY quickly and whatever else I could think of. Glad you enjoyed it. This chapter was a challenge in a lot of ways - a lot of segments in this story were even though the characters I know well enough that they run on autopilot most of the time in terms of their dialogue.

Lovecraft I see was included. Is it supposed to be Azathoth?

It was more a creature inspired by the Cthulu mythos than any one particular character.

Massive carnage and non-dead Charles. This is good.

Now what?!

Well, resolution generally follows climax. The 15th chapter is really more of an epilogue so there's two more long chapters and then that's it.
