And now for something different; soothing electronica combined with innovative video -- good for relaxing after 5 solid hours of ganglia-frying meetings and probably other unnatural disasters as well:

"Katsu sux?" Surely you don't mean tonkatsu or torikatsu?!?

Lol no, it's the name of a mediocre all you can eat place on the Danforth, by Pape. Which SicJake and his drunken fratboy posse go to to fuck shit up, so maybe I shouldn't share my favourites with him :)

Rule of thumb: if it's got a type of food ("sushi" or "katsu") in the name, it's not a Japanese-owned/-run restaurant.

They are indeed few and far between. Katsu's tempura udon soup is composed mostly of cabbage... I am guessing they're Koreans.

We haven't been to the very high-end places in Toronto, but of where we've been we like Mariko (aforementioned), Aki-Da near our house on Queen East, Izmi on Queen West, and Mikado on Laird (the most expensive and the most authentic-seeming to our untrained eye/palate). Oh and some place that just opened way out by kayt's parent's place near Port Union and Lawrence -- completely empty, surprisingly tasty.

Mariko has just moved and, alas, revamped its made to order 100+ item all you can eat menu; the price went down from $23 to $15, but so has the selection. No more tobiko with quail egg! no more salmon skin hand roll! :(

Well, at least they're still on the regular menu.
