We haven't been to the very high-end places in Toronto, but of where we've been we like Mariko (aforementioned), Aki-Da near our house on Queen East, Izmi on Queen West, and Mikado on Laird (the most expensive and the most authentic-seeming to our untrained eye/palate). Oh and some place that just opened way out by kayt's parent's place near Port Union and Lawrence -- completely empty, surprisingly tasty.
Mariko has just moved and, alas, revamped its made to order 100+ item all you can eat menu; the price went down from $23 to $15, but so has the selection. No more tobiko with quail egg! no more salmon skin hand roll! :(
Well, at least they're still on the regular menu.
