[ Dream 010 ]

He has to wake her because the nightmares are too vivid; the memory is still raw and painful. She seems a little shaken when she looks up at his face, like it takes her a moment to understand. Then she sighs and laughs bitterly to herself, as though it's some kind of terrible joke neither of them understands. He doesn't have to ask what the dream ( Read more... )

... Kidnap?

[Maybe it's just figuratively. But it may not be. Best to keep the important people on her radar.]

... The similarity. ... I'll... get back to you on that one.

Huh. So there's no chance that I'll be able to use these fonons. Humph.

I suppose anyone would be out of sorts after having their dream broadcasted like that, not just you. Uh, I'm Rita. Mordio.

Still, though, Ion, huh. That's pretty neat.

To be honest, I've almost gotten used to it by now.

It's good to meet you, Rita. You seem to have quite an interest in science.

Well, then, if not that, then why are you 'out of sorts'?

Heh. Interest doesn't quite cut it. I research stuff like that for a living. Even though, I guess I do stick with it because it's fascinating.

Since I've come here, I've gotten into the bad habit of thinking about things I shouldn't.

Do you? That sounds like it must be interesting. Is there any topic in particular you prefer to study?

Well, if you know you're thinking about things you shouldn't, then maybe you should stop?

Blastia. It's fascinating. Doubt you've heard of it, though. Back in my world, we use it to do what's commonly known as magic. It's actually more than a science than anything else.

Hahaha, I promise I'll try.

It's wonderful that you have something to be so passionate about. It's true that Auldrant doesn't have any blastia, but I'm sure all the technicians would love to study it, too, if they knew it existed.

Good.

Huh, so your world's called Auldrant. Yeah, I'm sure they would too. Though it's not like there's ever any real need for new and interesting research topics to break the monotony when you're in the research field. There's so much that's uncertain about the world - and it's the world we live in, for crying out loud! That's just so... stupid.

....

... What am I telling you this for? Just... forget it.

No, no. It's alright. It's been awhile since I had a talk like this, so it's certainly a nice change.

Been a while...?

... You don't get out much, do you.

Oh Rita, how I love your bluntness. :'D caprice_of_song August 1 2009, 16:09:37 UTC
I don't have the opportunity to discuss science very often, no.

Ioooooon. <33333 ;====; kyudousha August 2 2009, 00:15:21 UTC
Huh. I guess not, you being the head of your church, whatever. It's not like you needed to know how things worked to run it anyway, since it's all religion.

... What is it like, being a leader anyway? I'd imagine it to be stressful, but...

I think I'm expected to understand that much, at least. In this case, religion and science have been unavoidably meshed in places.

I never found my job very stressful. I mostly handle formalities and read the Score, but the ranks below mine handle some of the work as well. I love The Order, so I was glad to do what I could for it.

[She... really wants to pry right now. Buuut, maybe she's learning some tact?]

Well, glad you enjoy it, I guess. Now if only every authority figure loved their job as much as you did. Not too optimistic here, but I'm pretty sure the world wouldn't as screwed up as it is now.

Anyway, nice talking to you, Ion. Um... See you... around? Is that what I'm supposed to say?

I agree. Things are much easier if you try to enjoy what you're doing.

And yes! I hope so! It was nice talking to you, too.
