With as lax a schedule as the boy's had ever since being around here, it wouldn't be surprising to find the boy sleeping in as he was so wont to do back home. There was no Marica to come yelling at him to get out of bed here, however, and perhaps it developed some sort of subconscious habit to get himself up within reasonable time before the morning was completely gone. The added prospect of having something actually planned for the day is more than enough incentive for Sieg to drag himself out of bed, and by the sound of his approaching footsteps alone, the boy's wide awake and eager.

"Mornin'!" he shouts, waving a hand enthusiastically once he sees Subala.

"Mornin'!"

She grins to see the young man's energy. She likes most of the people here, but so many of them are on the mellow side, and it perks her up a bit to see someone so ready to go.

"Looks like yer awake enough, but if ya need a little more of a kick--" she points to the mug of black tea sitting on the wall next to her, as she drinks from her own.

"You wanna go out in the dory"--she nods toward the large rowboat that she and Lazlo use--"or ya wanna do some shore fishin'? I found a good spot 'round the other side of the castle?"

Grinning, Sieg walks up to where she is, glancing at the mug waiting for him before he reaches over to take it up. "Thanks!" He sniffed at the liquid before taking a large swallow of it. "Woo! A kick, huh?" he laughed, thumping his chest with a fist, swirling the tea around in his other hand before he thought to take another sip.

The boy looked over at the boat as Subala pointed it out, eyes lighting up. "I've never gone on a boat before," he admitted. He'd never found the time to take up Dromon's offer to go out, and even if this was by far nothing compared to the pirate's ship, a boat was a boat!

The tea is brewed quite strong, with some honey for sweetening (but it's nothing more than tea).

"All right then, boat it is." She gets up and walks down to the pier where the dory is tied. "I'll tell ya what I told Thomas... this thing rocks a lot, but it's meant to do that--it rebalances itself, but won't tip over easy. Just when ya climb in, let the boat do its thing and don't fight it, or ya will end up in the water." She pauses. "Ya can swim, right?"

"You get in, then I'll untie and come in too."

In honor of my most recent experience playing the Suiko V fishing game... capn_subala August 16 2009, 20:11:50 UTC
"Sounds like you guys had quite a time of it. Hope things have settled down at least."

She pauses as something grabs her line. Her eyes widen a little with excitement, and she reels in....

A large, algae-covered boot.

"The hell?! How come every rune-damned place I fish, someone's chucked their footwear into the water?

"I swear, there's someone who must just travel around the world, collectin' boots an' throwin' 'em into the watershed..."

XD Wouldn't be a complete fishing trip without it! wontknowtilitry August 17 2009, 03:23:22 UTC
The boy nodded. "Had our ups and downs, but we got through it, and everything's fine now," he confirmed, smiling. His eyebrows shot up at the sudden movement from the other, and Sieg watched eagerly as Subala pulled her line in.

"-whoa!" That thing must have been in the lake a while. He scratched his head. "I wouldn't have any explanation for it otherwise... Hopefully we don't find the match for a pair!"

She chuckles. "At least maybe we could clean'em up and sell'em. Not that they're prolly good for that."

She boot she holds shudders a little, and she frowns. Tipping the boot over into her hand, she gets a handful of silt and a little crab that starts darting up her arm. She makes a hooting noise as the crab tickles, and the boat rocks considerably as she reflexively shakes her arm, ultimately tossing the boot back into the water, while the crab makes its way up her shoulder and onto her headwrap.

"Hey! That was my catch!" She yells at the boot as it sinks back under the water.

Sieg grabbed onto the side of the boat as it started to tilt back and forth, scrambling to keep a hold on his pole at the same time as he nearly lost his grip on it.

"...and there it goes...!" he said as he watched the water reclaim its prize. He sits up as the boat starts to settle into a gentle rocking again, grinning Subala's way. "Well, not a total loss... where'd the little guy go?"

"Oh, you fought a monster out there, eh? What was it?"

She smiles as he brings in the next fish. "That's it, keep yer one arm straight like that."

He shook his head. "I dunno! Nothin' like I ever saw before- it had like three heads and was pretty big! Attacked some merchants too. Was a good thing some of my friends were along with me, that thing was tough!"

The fish broke through the water, Sieg grinning as he pulled it into the boat. "All right! I think I'm gettin' the hang of this!"

"Someday, ya might be good as me," Subala remarks proudly and yet in her amicably bratty way. "Fishin' an' monster huntin'--best way ta make a living!"

((Shall we wrap this up?))

The boy laughed, holding the fish at arms-length once he'd freed it from his hook to get a better look at it. "Haha! Sounds like a pretty busy schedule!" But what other things did he have to do around here aside from hope someone would figure out what was causing the Gateways to get all out of whack?

((OOC: K!))
