At the risk of angering many Phantom fans, I have to say it...
Sarah Brightman's voice is WEIRD. She sounds like she's swallowing it while she's singing. Emmy Rossum is a MUCH better Christine.

I am obsessed with the Phantom movie. I love the Broadway soundtrack and always have, but I am OBSESSED with the movie ( Read more... )

I have a whole CD of Sarah Brightman. PLUS she's married to Sir Lloyd Webber if I remember correctly. And I'm secretly in love with him. Also Michael Crawford though, so it's probably fine :-D

emmy rossum??? ummmmmm not so much. i agree that srah brightman isn't all she's cracked up to be, but she's a classic. emmy rossum sounds like a little girl when she is singing which is good for chrisine because she is supposed to be younger, but her vowels were horrid at points so i don't know what movie you were watching, also did you here the phantom sing? gag much. the movie is a HUGE guilty pleasure though i will admit, and the guy who plays raoul was wicked good. but emmy rossum?? she needs more training and to be taken down a peg or two in my opinion.

sarah brightman hits me weird too. my dad listens to her stuff from time to time and it just sort of... yeah.
but it's better than the celine dion cd that he starts playing on december first and continues to play all through february... oh the pain. someday, i'm going to borrow it and accidentally run it over with my car.
