So, for the past few months, while dogabuse has been supposedly behaving and being reformed, she's actually been continuing with her mad scientist ways in secret using greengosborn 's facilities. And one of her pet projects has been working on her Cerberus Spine.
The spine is a device that is essentially implanted into someone's body, like an organ transplant, and integrated with their central nervous system. The spine usually manifests as a metal collar around the neck and some deformities under the skin of the back. A great majority of people who receive this transplant die because their bodies fatally reject the spine, but those whose bodies do accept it (Angie rates rejection/acceptance on a grade scale; B- and above tend to live) are given powers by the spine. These powers, for our purposes, include rapid regeneration, with the exception of serious head injuries, and enhanced strength. Serious head injuries that could kill someone with a spine include bullet wounds to the head and having the head crushed.
Now, Angie has also taken his_instrument has her protege, so she's been having him read her notebooks and study her techniques. Together, they've been working on having Nigel be able to create his own version of Angelica's Cerberus Spine. So. What does this mean? It means PLOT TIME folks. Because by the new year Nigel will have completed this joint project between himself and his creepy motherfigure one true love mentor and that means only one thing. It needs somebody to be transplanted into. Now, the obvious answer is to simply pick up another unmarked white van full of schoolchildren, but given that this activity got Angelica busted, thrown into jail, and subsequently killed the last time she did it, neither Nigel or Angelica are up for entertaining that option anytime soon. So Nigel suggests the next best thing: himself.
- Nigel, with Angelica's guidance, will complete the spine right around the New Year
- Given that Nigel isn't really a stranger to death (and with the knowledge that he will come back regardless of outcome), he will offer himself up as the transplant recipient for his own Cerebus Spine
- Unsurprisingly, Nigel's body will reject the transplant and will die as a result of the procedure (sometime in early January)
- When he is brought back to life (approx a week later), however, the revitalization process with properly integrate the Cerebus Spine into his biology
- Nigel effectively becomes Giovanni only with less fail and a less flashier sense in clothing.
- Integration with the Cerebus Spine will result in an upgrade in powers (in addition to his original Porter power of clairvoyance, Nigel will now have hardcore regenerative abilities as well as enhanced strength)
- Angelica will have managed to successfully make her first in-game DOG and as a result will be utilizing Nigel in a much more henchmanly capacity
- Nigel will be much more well-equipped to carry on with Alex at being psychopaths as well as moving in Angelica's favor against people she does not like
Given that this plot, for the most part, is contained within Nigel and Angelica (though Nigel's death will have a small ripple through the limited CR he has), both Maddie and I wanted to toss it out to see if anybody had thoughts of how to get other people involved either in a proactive or reactive sense (Maddie as mentioned that Angelica will be using Norman's facilities to do the deed and will probably be being like SEE YOU EDDIE when it comes closer to the time of the procedure). I know there are also some revenge plots still floating around in relation to Angelica and I was hoping this 'upgrade' of Nigel would make them a bit more interesting. THOUGHTS QUESTIONS COMMENTS CONCERNS? I know it's a while before this plot is really moving, and Maddie and I will be laying in-game track towards it (since the assumption is that Nigel and Angelica have been working on this in the background), but we thought putting it out there and seeing if people have suggestions or want to chime in would be best.
