Okay everyone, the Calvinball log will go up sometime tomorrow. In keeping with the chaotic nature of the game, it will be fully open, and posting order is first-come, first-serve and is not to be sweated.
The nature of Calvinball rewards creativity, improvisation, and outright cruelty. This strip effectively summarizes the spirit of the game, as does this exchange with Sam.
To keep the log from being too insane, this post is for people participating to plan out ahead of time what moves they're going to make and rules they're going to decree, and so on. For example, Calvin will start the game by proclaiming that since he has the Calvinball (a volleyball), he gets a point for every minute he holds on to it. Other players might respond by simply tackling him and taking the ball away from him, or declaring that they're on Calvin's team and therefore get points as well, or dictating that Calvin is now standing in the 'Negative Point Zone' and is actually losing points for his team by holding onto the Calvinball. Frenzied energy and audacity are keys here, and common sense is a weakness.
