The results of being easily pressured are as such: SCARAB MINI-KINDA-PLOT 2010
Good afternoon/evening/whatever your timezone, CnC. I am bringing to you guys a mini-kinda-plot that really isn't a plot so much as an in-game diversion of the silly variety. It is 100% mod-approved and 100% voluntary and (I hope) 100% DELIGHTFUL.
Firstly, a little background that is bringing about this 100% mod-approved, voluntary and delightful situation:
Jaime Reyes is the current wielder of a blue scarab that was found in Egypt whenever-years ago by the original Blue Beetle, who used it like magic. Ted Kord succeeded him, but the scarab totally snubbed him and he was the techy Blue Beetle! As of now, though, the Scarab has been revealed to be an alien artificial intelligence/war machine/infiltrator thing with Every Weapon Ever and a Slap-chop. AND THAT WAS PRETTY BAD NEWS.
HOWEVER:
Through the power of teenager derpery or something, the Scarab somehow gains sentience and decides it wants to be a cool bro and save the day with Jaime rather than slowly enslave mankind. Which is awesome. It has led to developments such as a rather trolltastic personality, given the Scarab's affinity for South Park, internet memes, and lots and lots of television. WELL SINCE IT CAN'T FULFILL ITS ORIGINAL FUNCTIONS IT HAS TO DO SOMETHING, RIGHT?
The Scarab is pretty wired into the Network, and has been pretty much from the getgo! For Jaime's convenience, he tacks on names and codenames and descriptors onto the UID#s that appear over every post (the journal numbers on our character account profiles, as we all know!). It does this for everyone who posts, regardless of whether Jaime has any rapport for them or not. If you've posted, Scarab's labeled for future reference.
OKAY NOW HERE IS THE 100% MOD-APPROVED, VOLUNTARY AND DELIGHTFUL SITUATION:
For reasons that will probably remain a mystery (probably Grinbitch mad that Scarab doesn't call her anymore), a glitch in the system is going to expose those names/labels network-wide, changing people's UID#s to...whatever it was that the Scarab assigned them when they arrived/changed it!
THE PROCEDURE IS AS FOLLOWS:
You (the character) are minding your own merry business, doin' your thang, havin' a good ol' time, when your communicator gives a chirp. If you bother to investigate said chirp, you will see a dinky, 8-bit blue bug skitter around the view screen once, then stop right on top of the space where UID#s are supposed to be. It will blip out of existence, leaving behind the label/name that the Scarab had you assigned for Jaime! FANFARE!
These names will be public, viewable to everyone who sees you reply or post. If Jaime doesn't have any rapport with you, your names will be pretty much whatever your character introduced themselves as at first. HOWEVER, if...say, they never dropped their name at first and someone prompted them for a name and they replied with something like "I'm not sure I should tell you", then Scarab probably has them labeled as I'm Not Sure I Should Tell You, because IT WON'T BE ARSED TO KNOW ANY BETTER UNLESS JAIME HAS NEED.
You can start every post/comment thread with your shiny blue name like USER: SPOOKYPANTS PART II for other folks' reference, because they can totally see it, too. Fun can ensue when trying to figure out why they have that name/whodunit (though some people will have a better time figuring that out than others from the get-go).
The names will last for 7 days as Scarab works to scrub his code off the Network. After that...NADA. Back to UID#s, business as usual, everyone gives Jaime the side-eye for goofy names that he technically didn't make but hey...
SO IF THIS INTERESTS YOU AT ALL, JUST LEAVE A COMMENT FOR EACH OF YOUR CHARACTERS YOU'D LIKE TO GIVE A SHINY TEMP NAME/NICKNAME TO. I will give them to you and you can enjoy. :]
