Steve had enjoyed the service very much -- the message of giving back had hit all the right notes, in his opinion -- but he also noticed Rikki's tense bearing as the sermon neared its end. When she thanks him for coming along, he smiles and pats her shoulder in a fatherly way.

"It was my pleasure, Rikki. Thank you for coming.I know the service was a little long, today, but I enjoyed spending time with you."

Ruefully, he runs a hand through his hair.

"And, ah, actually, if you have time, maybe I could take you for lunch? You must be hungry, right? Being a growing girl and all."

"It wasn't long. Too long. I guess I'm just kinda out of practice at listening to sermons," she feels a little embarrassed admitting that to Steve, of all people, but she shrugs it off.

"Um. Yeah. Sure. I'd love to." she smiled a bit at the phrasing.

Steve grins. "Don't worry, I know the feeling. It took me a while to get used to it, too, when I got back. We didn't really have church sermons over seas..."

His faith had kept him going, though, and he'll hold on to it as long as he lives.

"I don't know about you, but when I was a teenager, I can't remember not being hungry." He pauses, then laughs at himself. "And now I feel old, just from saying that."

Rikki laughs a little. "Well, now I feel like a kid, so we're even." she grins. "Where were you thinking for lunch?"

It felt great to be walking around with Cap. Even if he wasn't necessarily her Cap. It was still good.
