Sally has been wanting to take dance classes for nearly forever. As a kid she'd been put into gymnastics when all she wanted to do was tap dance. She walked into the studio looking like a teenager straight out of the 80s; black leggings, pink leg warmers, a too long pink shirt that draped off one shoulder, she had it all.

She set her bag down and did stretches while waiting for the class to begin. Stretching was good, right? She seriously hoped she wasn't going to be the oldest one in this room.

"I've never thought of it like that but falling with style is definitely the best way to describe it," Sally grinned, trying not to mentally recall the last time she'd nearly hit the ground. "I think I'll be using that phrase from now on."

"I tend to find that everything can look better when you say it in nicer words." It was something that Ryan did quite frequently, at least. "Or more politically correct ones, in certain cases."

Sally contemplated that for a moment. "You sound like a friend of mine who's always trying to get me to think more optimistically."

"I try to think optimistically," Ryan said with a shrug, "because it's depressing enough in this City without me depressing everyone on top of it. Besides, happier music is so much more fun to sing."

"I'm learning that it's a pretty good outlook to have while here," Sally replied with a smile. "That and to try new things. Like dancing."

Thinking of how similar dancing and fighting really were, Ryan nodded. "Trying new things is always good - you never know when something you did on a whim will become useful. Dancing is more useful here than people would think."

"People are always underestimating the value of whims," Sally mused before considering how dance could be useful outside of the class. "You're probably right. And not just because it's working various muscles."

"Dance is useful for fighting if you're not the kind of person who is purely offensive. It teaches you balance and helps with agility and strengthens your legs to making kicking bad guys where it hurts that much more painful." Ryan had pretty much said this speech to every person who came to take dance from him in some variation. Some of it was gathered from experience, but some of it was just conjecture.

"Oh." Sally nodded along to everything he said. If dance could do all that she was definitely going to keep up with it. "My power is about as defense oriented as they come so I'm all for anything that will help me out when I need to get into attack mode." She had been working on projecting energy from her shield but hitting actual targets was still difficult.
