The Stepford Cuckoos arrived promptly on time, ringing the doorbell once and knocking neatly once on the door for good measure. Three knocks, perfectly timed together into once, then they stepped back and waited. They were very well-mannered girls, after all.

It was a curious request, because more often they had people shying away from their telepathic talents than displaying a distinct curiosity. Phoebe, Mindee and Celeste didn't mind showing off at all, although the thought did cross Phoebe's mind- and therefore all their minds- that this wasn't such a good way to deal with missing someone, fantasy scenarios and all that.

But it was just pulling out a memory, and letting Lynda see it again. A little trick, some clever manipulation of sense perception, nothing three telepaths together couldn't do. It would be like watching a movie up close and personal.

As she heard the doorbell, Lynda perked up, smiling brightly. That had to be them! It had to be the Stepford Cuckoos! She opened the door, looking the three over. Wow. It was like looking at the same girl three times. It was weird. Cool, but weird.

"Hi. You're the Stepford Cuckoos, right?" She smiled. "I'm Lynda. Come on in." She opened the door and stepped out of the way, gesturing for them to come in.

"The three and only," they replied in unison, then smiled and stepped in over the threshold. "Hello, Lynda. It's nice to meet you in person. Communicators can be rather impersonal devices."

Once in, they looked up and around unobtrusively, but with a certain measure of curiosity and interest that was perfectly natural for fifteen-year-old girls in a new place. It was a nice, comfortable-looking home, that much they agreed on.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. It's always nice to meet people in person, y'know?" She smiled, closing the door behind them.

"Can I get you anything to drink? We've got water, milk, Coke and some apple juice." Lynda's mind had permanently set up the unwritten rule of don't touch Mr. Duke's alcohol. Thankfully, she was the one who usually went grocery shopping.
