There was something comforting about the park. Harley was a city girl by heart, but Poison Ivy had given her a new found appreciation for the foliage. Not to say she was going to go trucking for the Amazon rain forest (EW!!!), but a walk in the park was usually on her list of things to-do (if she ever got the attention span to keep one).

She was getting big and rubbed her belly idly as she entered Central Park. She was dressed casually for the winter, but had a gun hidden in her jacket and a smaller handgun in her boot. Lady had to be prepared in this sick strange world!

Harley hummed some Dazzler and made her way to the fountain.

Karu-Sil was interrupted from her stalking of a homeless man (nobody really tended to care if those went missing, she had learned) by somebody humming. Figuring that her quarry wasn't going to get far at the rate he was shambling, she changed course and crept after the sound of the noise. She was wary, because she was getting closer to the city proper, but there was no harm in her having a peek. Maybe it'd be something worthwhile.

It was just another woman, walking toward the fountain where she sometimes stole a drink from or, as was the case two nights ago, scared the living hell out of some kissing teenagers. Still, she crouched in the bushes and watched.

Unaware, Harley sat on the edge of the fountain, feeling the cold wind blow through her blond hair. She rubbed her hands together, rubbed her thighs, and slowly, reassuringly rubbed her belly. The lie about Bobby wasn't so bad, was it? Bobby was such a sweetheart, he wouldn't have bat an eyelash at Harley spilling the beans about who the baby daddy was.

Damn.

She missed Bobby.

"Oy, Iceman. Whatchoo thinkin' walkin' out on a girl like that?" She sighed, turning her chin up to the cityscape. "Putz!"

Karu-Sil didn't know what a "putz" was, but the woman was probably carrying, and that made her a relatively easy mark. Her thoughts strayed back to Kryb for a moment, and she almost missed her other corpsman. She probably would have thought up a dozen enviable atrocities to carry out in a few minutes. But there was no Kryb there, which also suited Karu-Sil. She could do her job fine, even if she lacked Kryb's finesse at carving children out of their mothers.

Slowly, she emerges from the bushes in front of the blonde woman, careful to leave her mouth covered by hair and the skeletal remains of the bushes. Some distance behind her mark, a yellow light dances, and one of her packmates appears.

Someone is hunting Karu-Sil.

Up in the trees, moving silently. She's been aware of Karu-Sil's presence since she entered the park. For her own sake, she rarely interferes in the comings and goings along the outer reaches of the park, so long as the inner reaches remain untouched. However in her mind, the park is hers. And this... creature who had caused a stir with that posted video could bring unwanted people into her park.

So Ivy steps lightly from branch to branch and watches the creature, closely.

As Karu-Sil sneaks along through the shadows, she's aware that she's being tailed, the same way predators are aware of when they've stumbled into something else's territory--a branch moves, or something catches a leaf. But Karu-Sil likes it where she is, as much as she can like something in the City, and she doesn't feel like being driven onto the streets. Not yet, anyway.

She ignores whatever's following her, and turns her attention to a raccoon that's nibbling on some garbage. It's not big, but it will do.

Animal life hold slightly more meaning to Ivy than human. Certain ones even helped the growth of her darling plants, but in the end, they were things of nature, just as she was and in nature everything fed upon something else. Far be it from her to begrudge the creature her meat.

As Karu-Sil waits behind the animal, a spark of light begins to dance and waver in front of it. For a moment, the little creature's eyes follow the dancing light, which them mushrooms into a fanged beast. The raccoon forgets its garbage and bolts from the construct, right into Karu-Sil's path. She's learned how to handle these things by now, and picks it up by the scruff of its neck before pinning it and disemboweling it.

In a sad way, she resents animals for not treating her differently because of her face. She's more than just a human-looking creature in the City, and animals don't seen to acknowledge that. But the raccoon's already dead, and she's not going to pass up a meal. So she eats.

M'stra's been just a little frustrated since her little song and dance up at Lake Placid. Toying with the Pryde girl had been fun, and gods knew the pain of her whimpering inner self had left her feeling as close to warm and fuzzy as she ever got for days ( ... )

Karu-Sil creeps to the edge of the forest to watch, very delighted at the display of savagery she just got to sit in on. She had seen other members of her Corps do things like that. It makes her feel all warm and nostalgic to see it again.

However, this is a woman who just disemboweled a man with a retractable tail, and out of reflex, Karu-Sil's pack comes to life around her, circling protectively. With no hesitation, she steps out of the bushes.

M'stra's face melts from tension into something almost fond when the other woman reveals herself. She stands and turns toward her, dragging the choking bleeding man by his throat nonchalantly.

"I remember you, from the network. Is your pack hungry again darling?" she lifts him up and shakes the man a little the way one might offer a can of soda of a packet of poptarts. He gurgles and blood pours out between his lips.

"I have enough to share."

"Darling," she repeats. That word is foreign to Karu-Sil, but she knows its meaning well enough, and she's not going to turn down an offering of meat. As soon as she thinks it, one of the fang beasts strides over to the man and tears his arm and shoulder off his body. The meat's fresh, and so good. If you catch the right ones, humans can taste exquisite.
