"Right," she followed him closely, wondering exactly what she'd done that could be classified as "good". She didn't complain, though, because she was becoming increasingly aware that compliments - or words of any kind, for that matter - were sparse coming from this man. 'Batman.' Yeah, right. She looked up at all the tech in the command center, amazed by it. She certainly hadn't been expecting that. But, coming from Batman, she supposed it was standard. She still couldn't swallow that as truth. She tried to keep up with him but somehow he just kept vanishing and it was like chasing a shadow or a ghost ( ... )

"I hate time and space." Or at least, she was starting to. With all of the various futures she'd heard about and been blamed for and tried to prevent, it was hard to have any appreiation for the complexities of the concept. It had become simply frustrating. Getting over her moment of self-pity, she looked over at the machines that were monitoring her vitals. "So, where'd you learn how to do all of this stuff? I mean, you're planning on making an antidote for zombiism, that's not really covered in gen ed courses, is it?" She asked, looking back over at him. "Is biology your thing, or...?"

"I'm not particular fond of those who manipulate the time-space continuum, either."

They were nearly as troublesome as magic to deal with, and, in some respects, even more dangerous-- Chronos, for instance, had inadvertently nearly completely destroyed their dimension by meddling too much with the timeline. He had a suspicion that the method the teleporter used-- altering other timelines in order to recruit those it needed-- was intended specifically to avoid destroying this dimension in the process, though the ramifications might still well be dire for other universes. When they finally figured out the mechanism behind it all, he'd have to check.

"Toxicology, genetics, and several specialties within biology are useful in forensics, especially given four of Gotham's Rogues regularly use poisons of some kind or another."

Joker with his Joker venom, Crane with his assorted fear toxins, Poison Ivy with her array of pheromones and poisons, and Bane with his Venom.

It was really hard to take him seriously when he was talking about Gotham's rogues, but Claire, with little trouble, batted down the smile that was threatening. It was easy, just sitting here with a guy dressed in a ... rubber batsuit ... to forget about the zombie apocalypse going on outside. She moved to sit back in the hospital bed, trying to shrug off a shiver that was threatening. Getting blood drawn always made her arm go cold, even as her body replenished it almost immediately.

"So, uh, is Robin here too?" It was supposed to be a joke. After a short pause, she bit her lip. "I'm sorry. It must be really weird, having people know... things. About you. Without you telling them, I mean. I know... a little about what that's like."

"Oh, great. Even in a new version of New York, I've got people googling me." Claire rolled her eyes. So much for a fresh start. Part of her wondered if she'd ever get out of the shadow of the murder at Union Wells, but she knew full and well that there was no point in complaining about that to Batman. After all, his life was a lot worse, right? It had to be to lead him to donning a bat suit. So, instead of dragging out her self-pity, she acted as though she'd moved onto the topic and simply continued. "Two Robins, that must be confusing for you, huh?"

"No; the mantle of Robin was passed down from the first to a second in my world, as in theirs. One is the first, pulled from early in the timeline of his world. The other is the third in his own, the second in mine, from later in the timeline."

Of course, that would be confusing for most other people, but to Bruce, who had seen and trained both Dick and Tim as Robins, it wasn't so difficult a quandry. Yes, they bore the same alias and the similar costumes, but their personalities, strengths, weaknesses, methods, fighting styles, and even powers were very different. While the difference wasn't night and day, it was more than enough for Batman never to get bogged down in confusion between them.
