Sentinel hadn't left the base in nearly 24 hours. He hadn't left his room in almost as long. This went beyond simply losing his powers, as awful a feeling as that had been. Something was wrong. Every time he even went near another person, he felt it. His mind filled with images. Something gripped his body and began to squeeze. Something he didn't understand and couldn't control.

He found an excuse to get away before he could find out what it was.

And now, at the end of an already awful day, there was a Decepticon at his window. He was in no mood for Starscream or any of his schemes. He didn't even turn to face the Seeker.

"Now is not the time for this, Starscream. Whatever you're up to this time, the answer is no."

"Actually, I was going to ask you something... the Law, or whatever he calls himself. That fellow who posted about our powers and possibly not being ourselves. I wished to test something."

He took a deep breath, following Sentinel's voice. "I need to see if you still have a spark. If you do, it'll prove that Edgeworth may be partially incorrect in his assumptions, if not, well... I don't know."

"I assure you, the procedure is quite harmless, and it'd also determine if you're still Cybertroninan. And perhaps I can use that data to eventually restore us to our original forms..."

He gave a derisive snort. "Of course, knowing you, you'll refuse."

His fingers dug into the arm of his chair. A day ago, he would have been able to puncture the fabric. Now the gesture did nothing but give wordless voice to the stress he was under.

He could see into Starscream's mind. There was a mech, one unfamiliar to him. There was pain. Death.

Fear.

Something in him was shifting, changing, and he fought it down as best he could.

"You're right. I'm refusing," he said tightly. "Now get out."

"Oh for spark's sake, Sentinel, for once I am not attempting to recruit you, I'm trying simply to answer a question. Now act like the Autobot you claim to be and help me," he snapped.

"Primus, at least Optimus has the sense to stand down when I ask questions like this," he said, trying to goad Sentinel into... into... he wasn't sure yet. Perhaps it was simply in Starscream's nature to goad. "Perhaps I was wrong about you. Perhaps he is the superior leader."
