True, he hasn't informed Starscream. Really, he saw no reason to, and in technicality, he is performing his duty as per ordered by Starscream.

Protect Skyfire. In this way, he is attempting to protect him from stress and nightmares, much in the way Soundwave has performed for Starscream. It is a simple duty, an order, an operation.

Nothing more.

"IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR ORGANICS TO LISTEN TO SOMETHING IN ORDER TO SLEEP. USUALLY: IT IS WHITE NOISE. HOWEVER. I HAVE A DIFFERENT TECHNIQUE."

He tilts his head faintly. "QUERY: IS THERE A SORT OF SONG YOU PREFER?"

Skyfire pauses.

That's odd, but it does make sense. He shuffles down under the sheets a bit more and tries to think.

"Anything, really. Something calm... something. Old."

This is a bad idea.

What if Soundwave decides to try something sketchy? Stab him in his sleep?

It's only natural to worry. After all, taking care of Skyfire in a more murderous intent would be terribly easy by now. And knowing Soundwave's nature, it isn't very hard to believe.

Yet, he plans nothing violent for him.

"PREFERENCES NOTED."

Physical gestures of the comforting kind are not his specialty. He can express himself a little easier in the presence of Rumble or GLaDOS. With anyone else, it feels horridly foreign. However, he has duties to perform.

Hesitantly, he places his hand to Skyfire's shoulder, having no idea if that can even be perceived as comforting.

Abruptly, his voice changes, deep and smooth and very unlike his true voice. The tones he chooses do cause a gentle tranquility effect, intent to gradually cause the target to relax. It doesn't specifically cause sleep, but the intention is to assist.

"There was a boy.
A very strange enchanted boy,
They say he wandered very far, very far--
Over land and sea,;
A little shy and sad of eye
But very wise was he."

Odd, that touch to his shoulder... It's more comforting than it really should be. Contact. The sudden change in voice is startling to say the least. Though it doesn't take long for Skyfire to appreciate the melody. It's quiet and wandering.

His breathing slows, though his eyes are still fixed on the Decepticon...

Singing to him.

It's the strangest feeling... he cannot hear the undertones meant to calm. But they are there, and they are working. Everything becomes steady, and he's lost in the song. The comforting pressure on his shoulder.
