Returning to the City hadn't been too bad so far, in Layla's opinion. Things had been absolutely crazy right before she left, but even just the port home lessened the physical trauma of it. All of the injuries Hodge had inflicted on her had been healed

Dick smiled when he saw Layla waiting for him. Oddly, he hadn't been expecting her to be there already, he thought he'd wait for a bit before she'd show up. That was quite a sign that he wasn't used to her anymore, and that he would have to get into the habit of hanging out with her again.

Or that may have been some ridiculous excuse to spend more time with her even if he really didn't need one. He was just glad she was back.

And that -- that was a very selfish thought because being back meant she'd spent some time in her own world and had been pulled away from it again.

He let himself fall a few meters away from her trying to push away the fact he was now feeling guilty because she was there (it wasn't his fault and there was no point feeling sad about it at all). It was mostly awkward because the first reflex he'd had was to walk up to her to hug her but they'd never hugged and maybe he's trespass her personal boundaries or something.

So he just walked up to her and looked at her from above. Not much, an inch or so, but they had

"You know how I work," she replied with a grin, pushing down on her hands to stand. "Things always have an odd habit of falling into place."

Coincidences were never an instance for her, and she liked that he still seemed okay with that. It had been some time, and he hadn't forgotten. Though, she should have known that she wouldn't have.

However, she did know when Dick was getting all awkward on her, and there was just no time for that! Personal space was just not an issue for her, and she immediately bounded up to him and pulled him into a hug.

"You got bigger!"

Dick would have been lying to himself if he said he hadn't wished Layla would catch on what he wanted to do and go along with it. It was still a surprise, awkward contact that he wasn't used to anymore. He'd received about two and a half hugs in the last... eleven months. Oh -- nearly a year.

He put an arm around her shoulders, hugging her back.

"That'll happen when times passes," he paused, loosening his hold but not stepping away. "You're still the same height."
