Where: Central Park.
Summary: Scott and Emma go for a jog, Jean spots them later on.

As Emma jogged along the paved sidewalk, she turned the volume higher than usual on her iPod. She simply wanted a break from past events, and her suggestion of jogging in Central Park was as excellent idea.

Of course, Scott couldn't get work off his mind when he mentioned the public seeing them. Even though Emma enjoyed work just as much as Scott, she indeed knew when exactly to enjoy a break.

"Let's not talk about our public identity crisis," she said. "We save that for the office." She looked at him and gave a smug smile.

Scott heard the music on her iPod go up, taking the not so subtle hint along with the not subtle at all verbal cue that she didn't want to talk about "work" right now. He didn't know how she could do it, just turn it all off like that. Even right now he was thinking how impractical the loud iPod was because you might not hear an attack coming.

"I would have thought being conscious of our public persona would have been most useful when we're out in public," he replied. "But I'll try and be less Cyclops and more Scott for the moment."

She tightened her pony tail as they increased their speed. It wasn't entirely necessary to listen to music while she had alone time with Scott. And finally, they were relaxed and could enjoy a minute or two without mentioning her name. She turned the volume down just a bit to hear his heavy breaths as they ran through the park.

"That's what why we have Spider-Man and the Avengers running around, dear."

"Spider-Man is practically reviled back home," Scott pointed out. "And Norman Osborn now runs the Avengers."

He stopped talking just for a moment to make sure that he didn't get out of breath.

"The X-Men are mutant ambassadors at all times," he continued. "We have to-"

He paused and sighed a bit, this time it having nothing to do with the fact that he wanted to make sure he didn't mess up his breathing rhythm.

"Sorry. Work is on the desk. Right now we're just running."
