The streets signs flickered by in the early morning light, and Optimus kept an eye on them, making sure he didn't miss the turn.

There.

With a screech of tires, he turned the motorcycle down the avenue, and sped towards where Blackarachnia was running from a rather large monster. Or, at least it looked like she was trying. Optimus cut the ignition and skidded the bike to a halt, leaving it on the sidewalk. In one fluid motion, he ripped his helmet off, dumped it near the bike, and pulled out his axe, rushing for the beast.

He leaped at the thing, slicing a high, wide arc and driving the axe into the monster's back.

Optimus was tired now, and he knew his day was only starting. With an exhausted sigh, he retrieved his bike and helmet, and wheeled it over towards Blackarachnia.

"Come on, let's get you to a medic so you can patch up that ankle," he said, offering a hand to help her up.

She glared at his hand for a moment before slapping it away, pushing herself up on her own. "I don't need your help, now, or a medic. I can take care of myself."

She turned and began to limp back in the direction of the MAC. She felt as if she could drop at any moment, worn out from running so much, so much energy used up using Optimus's strength and she hadn't yet had any sleep.

"You can barely walk," he said, voice carefully neutral as he swung a leg over the motorcycle.

"At least stay off of it and let it heal," he asked, starting up the ignition and pulling on his helmet.

Blackarachnia hissed, she hated it when he was right. She turned back to face him, keeping her glare steady, doing everything in her power to not let her defeat show.

"Just a ride back to the MAC, no slagging medics?" she hissed through clenched teeth.

Optimus hesitated. Getting her off her ankle was more important than a battle of wills. He pulled the helmet off and nodded, before handing it to her. "You're wearing the helmet. Get on."

There was clearly no room for argument here.

She made a face at the helmet, yes, even at times like this she could be so picky. Finally with a roll of her eyes she limped closer, took it and put it on. Once it was on she situated herself on the back of the motorcycle, hesitant to hold onto Optimus but she had seen how fast these things could go. With an annoyed sigh she wrapped her arms around him.

Once she was hanging on, Optimus twisted the accelerator and zoomed back towards the MAC.

He didn't say anything during the ride, deep in his own thoughts. WHY did he keep trying to help her? Did he think some part of her, deep down, was still Elita? Of course, that week that Elita HAD been here had screwed everything up. They'd been close that week and...

Optimus pushed that thought aside. This was Blackarachnia, who had demonstrated time and again that she was no longer Elita. The sooner he got that through his processors, the better. Maybe next time he should just let her do her own thing.

... And that next time might be the time she dies, his conscience reminded him.

But she was a Decepticon.

Who didn't always act like one.

Ugh, he was going to give himself a headache if he thought about this too hard.

Finally, they rolled up in front of the MAC, and Optimus idled the bike into its proper parking space. "Here we are," he said. "Can you make it up the stairs?"

Blackarachnia was silent the whole ride as well. Of course she had nothing to say to him, she was angry. She herself wondered why he bothered to keep helping her. She told him time and again she didn't need it. And yet there he was, always the knight in shining armor to save the damsel in distress.

And nearly every time it ended the same. "Fool." she mumbled as the bike turned toward the MAC

Blackarachnia tore off the helmet the moment they had stopped, thrusting it toward Otpimus after nearly falling off the bike. She cursed under her breath as she landed awkwardly on her ankle yet again.

"I'll be fine!" she yelled, narrowed eyes glowing brightly in his direction. It was an obvious lie.

Patience, Prime, Patience. He knew that losing his temper would only make her angrier. So he swallowed his pride, and the harsh words he wanted to say, and took the helmet from her before turning to head upstairs. "Suit yourself."

He walked slowly though - he was tired, after all, and desperately in need of a shower.

That, and Blackarachnia really DID need help up the stairs. She just had to realize it herself.

She of course did realize she needed help as she began to ascend the stairs. But she wasn't about to ask, she was far too stubborn for that. Slowly she made her way after him, trying her best to keep her weight on her right leg.

Oh, how badly he wanted to facepalm at this scenario. She was so slagging stubborn. "Look," he said, stopping. "We're both going to the same place, more or less. You'll get there faster and can go about poisoning me like you're inevitably going to do anyway more quickly if you'll let me carry you."

Wisely, he didn't add "because this is kind of embarrassing."

Blackarachnia laughed, looking up with him, giving him that 'Do you seriously believe I'm going to agree?' look. The only way she was going to allow him to do so was if he just picked her up.

"I'll take that as a yes," he said, becoming grumpier by the minute. Really, she made life harder for herself by being this stubborn.

So, he went down a few stairs, knowing she couldn't escape him, and scooped her up, wincing a little as he prepared for the flurry of punches he expected, and started climbing the stairs again.

Blackarachnia hissed, of course she threw a few punches at him before she gave up. She was getting too tired to put up too much of a fight. Finally she crossed her arms and huffed angrily, looking away from him.

And Optimus took those punches, continuing his climb up the stairs.

Finally, they arrived at their adjacent doors, and Optimus set Blackarachnia down gently. He then turned to his own door, and hoped he could get inside before the inevitable poisoning happened.
