[Maggie was a little late, having had to tear herself away from the books at the library, but she looked energized--well, as much as Maggie ever looked energized--and ready to go when she arrived. Dressed in a simple track suit, it was hard for anyone to realize just how much paper she had condensed and hidden under her sleeves]

Sorry I'm late. [gives an apologetic look to the waiting officers as well]

How do you want to start?

Hi, Maggie. We're going to start with a simple demonstration. [Pointing at Maggie] Officers, this woman is under arrest. She is extremely dangerous. I want you all to restrain her.

[Some of the officers exchange looks that imply they are wondering whether Bauer has finally gone made with power, but most don't hesitate and rush forward, yelling at Maggie to get on her knees and put her hands etcetera.]

[Don't worry Maggie, the purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate why Imports almost always wipe the floor with ordinary humans and why this training is necessary for the force]

[what? Oh. right. She had to fight them. This was training after all.]

[in the time it takes for her to clock that, one guy gets close. Raises her hand, and a stream of paper flies out, forming her paper wolf, which bull rushes him to the floor before ramming into several other officers.]

[One officer starts to beat on the wolf with a tonfa. The wolf snatches it out of his hands and crunches it within paper jaws strong as a real wolf's. The wolf then turns into a paper man who grabs and restrains several other officers.

One officer left standing lunges toward Maggie, punching at her. She dodges left, dodges right, then throws an index card at him. He cringes backward, terrified of what the index card is about to become--then watches confused as the index card flutters ordinarily to the floor. As he's distracted, Maggie sweep-kicks the back of his knees, toppling him to the ground]

All right, that's enough! Everyone, break it off and form back up.

[The officers lose no time in complying.]

That's what happens when ordinary people go up against Imports. It's not pretty. If Maggie here was a real supervillain, she would not have held back and you would probably all be dead. That's why most Import arrests are handled by other Imports.

[Jack pauses. He can see the officers have mixed feelings about having to let the people from other universes handle their most dangerous suspects]
