"Sorry Angelica." Calvin didn't mind the cookies at all, and was talking with his mouth full as he tied on his Stupendous Man cape. "I'd love to see Rudolph, but I've already got plans tonight. I'm going to be out Santa-watching all Christmas Eve!"

"Oh?" Angelica looked a little puzzled, eyebrows raising skeptically. Clearly this was going to be a night of intense adult supervision. "You mean on the computer? NORAD is supposed to be tracking him, I think."

"Nah, that website's for chumps." And naturally was at the top of Calvin's online bookmarks. "Why watch his flight path on screen when I can see him with my own eyes?"

He was pulling on his mittens now. The dark purple 'stealth cape' he'd received as a Christmas gift a year ago didn't fit too well with all his winter gear, but Calvin was determined to manage it somehow. He kept talking as he got ready.

"I don't know why I didn't think of it before. I can fly, right? I've got stupendous senses, right? So if I watch the skies above the City all night, I'm bound to spot Santa while he's on the job!"

A look of confusion and concern swept over Angelica's face as she watched him tug on his mittens. Surely she had misheard him. Surely he wasn't about to take off into the night, into the chill of December, all on his own.

But there he was, putting on his winter clothes, and all she could do was gape at him before hurriedly tugging on her coat after him. Not that she'd exactly need it, but still.

"You can't go out alone, Calvin. It's cold and dark and Santa will be very high up." She buttoned up her jacket, trying to maintain composure while looking around for her earmuffs. "I'll go with you. My powers can keep us warm, and illuminate the sky."
