Pink got up far too early this morning -- after sleeping barely any at all -- and after failing spectacularly at getting back to sleep, decided to go walking instead. Found himself at a cafe, with Italian coffee-drinks and little sandwiches. Even the cheapest thing on the menu seemed criminal -- a dollar fifty for a cup of coffee? -- but he reminded himself, for the millionth time, that everything was like that, and bought a cup, and a bagel to nibble on. (They offered tea, they offered scones, but he knew better than to trust anything like that, in the States. You only made that mistake once.He sets up at a table near the door, some bloke with a terrible perm, a bandaged hand, and stubbly-shaved eyebrows, watching everyone who comes in. How they're dressed, what they order, the little gadgets that all of them seem to have ( ... )

Sirius does watch the comms, even if he doesn't post on them much after Vulcanus and the infiltration of the imPort community, so he'd know Pink for a newcomer even without the ragged ego flickering in the metaphysical breeze.

"Excuse me, have you seen a man, 'bout so tall, nose like a wolf, with a distinct air of books about him?"

Sirius has a picture as well, but it was the books that usually did it for identifying rogue Moonys. He didn't even have to be carrying one, it was just part of his essential nature.

Pink notices the bloke as he comes in, watching him like the others. Doesn't seem to be here for coffee. Looking around... looking for someone? And apparently he's noticed Pink too. And he's -- coming over. Brilliant. "...yeah?"

At least it's just a simple question. (Looking for someone. He was right. Give him a point for people-watching.) And a bonus bit of inspiration. Nose like a wolf. That's a good line. He might steal it. Though, 'round here -- he looks uncertain for a moment, then goes ahead and asks. "You mean literally or metaphorically?"

"Metaphorically, I do hope." We'll just leave it at that, shall we?

This early in the day, Sirius's smile is still coming easy. He's all white teeth, stubble and bright grey eyes under his shaggy hair, and looks like the kind of fellow who'd do well on a stage, or on a motorbike. The kind of fellow who should be at a bar with a pint in his hand and a bird on his arm, and you there as well, sharing a joke.

Tonks is on her way to the precinct. It's her day off. Well, it is supposed to be her day off but she is behind on her paperwork. It is her least favorite thing to do. She is a woman of action, not filing! However, her dislike and the amount of it is the one consistent thing in her law enforcement career.

It figures.

She is very close to the station when she thinks she spies a familiar figure. Is that...? There's only one way to find out.

"Oi, Sirius!"

sounds good! purmoncul December 8 2011, 17:48:25 UTC
He probably should have just apparated home, but then he'd realized that he was literally too sad for it. How could he affix a destination firmly in his mind, when he wanted that destination to be home, and it was not home without Remus in it?

It had occurred to him that he could take a cab, but he was pretty sure that they had laws about weeping in hired cars, and he'd just end up back here anyway. All in all, it was a good thing Tonks found him or Sirius would probably have just been standing on the corner unable to figure out a way to move, until Potter came out to collect him.

She approaches him. The smile fades from her face when she catches up to Sirius. Tonks frowns and starts to worry. She doesn't need to ask if he's all right. He doesn't look all right to Tonks.

"What happened?" Is someone dead? Is someone hurt?

"It's Remus. He's," and Sirius just waves his hand. Gone.

Oh bloody hell he's not going to go all weepy in the street. He's really not. Really. Damn it.

And with a crack of displaced air, a wild Sirius appears in the parking lot. (It just...seemed like the most polite place for apparition.)

He heads for the building, pain and worry clear on his face.
