( Donna can be found by the door for the earliest part of the evening, ready to welcome any and all. Chances are, if you're coming in, she'll spot you, and will be over to say hi. )

[Hello there, lovely lady from the Network! Roxanne is headed in to say hello, and recognizes Donna immediately and heads over to greet her.]

Nice to meet you in the flesh. Roxanne Ritchi, from the Network.

This is as much business as it is pleasure for Roxanne; she's always enjoyed the social side of her work, even though it used to get regularly impeded by kidnapping.

But here, there's no problems like that to ruin her nice evenings. Besides, who doesn't like to get dressed up a little and go out and meet new people? Hell, it's part of her job description.

Not that she's working tonight... much.

Terezi has been exploring the newly decorated office, making no secret of her delight in checking out all of the colors it's been decked out in.

She's not ignoring the people in the room, though, which is why Roxanne is currently finding herself accosted by a preteen wearing a cute little dress and tennis shoes to...match. Right. Her tinted glasses and walking cane perhaps reveal a little about her, to the discerning eye.

"Your dress smells nice!" She compliments brightly.

"Why-- thank you," she says, smiling at the ... blind girl. That was totally weird, but okay. "I'm Roxanne Ritchi. What's your name?"

"I'm Terezi, hi. Did you work on the magazine?"

[Terezi...had planned on attending this event in her usual slacks and t-shirt, but fortunately Kanaya held an intervention and provided her with a brightly colored dress for the evening. So Terezi is flitting around the room in dress and red tennis shoes, navigating with her cane and taking in the smells.

If the expression on her face is anything to go by, she approves of the evenings' color palette.]

[ kanaya had succeeded in getting terezi in the dress, but unfortunately the other girl'd wandered off before she'd managed to make a proper outfit out of it.

by the time she finally catches up with terezi, she's lugging a coat with her ]

You really must be more mindful of the climate, you're liable to catch cold if you're exclusively wearing the dress I prepared.

[yeah, naturally Terezi left the scene before Kanaya was done with her. but she was willing to admit that Kanaya had a point.]

It's really cold around here!!

[compared to what she's used to anyway. and, catching a whiff of what Kanaya was carrying...]

What's that?

That's precisely what I had stated not a moment ago.

[ she hands terezi the bundle ]

I took the liberty of bringing you a coat. Had you waited for me to be prepared prior to your departure, I would've been fully capable of sparing you the walk, as well.

As per usual, Gil stands in the furthest side of the room, making sure to not draw too much attentions to himself. He's only come because it was Donna's invite and while apprehensive about showing up, he also resigned himself to the fact he doesn't have much to do in the City right now.

He slips his hands into his trouser pockets and watches the crowds with vague interest.

Oh, Gil. That's like being mystery bait to the reporter in the room. Roxanne wanders his way, offering him a smile and a hand. "I don't believe we've met. Roxanne Ritchi."

Back in his world, this method would have worked in evading people -- particularly women. When his eyes settle on the reporter, he has to wonder why she's even approached him. She looks friendly enough, but maybe she's mistaken him for someone. He clears his throat and takes her hand slowly.

"... Gilbert Nightray," he says, his last name mentioned as if it was an afterthought. It was only customary to give your full name, yes? "I'm sorry, I don't think we have."

"Do you work here at City Lights?" Her brief handshake is warm and firm -- assertive for a woman, espceially for someone who might be familiar with... more dainty ladies. Roxanne is only dainty in stature, however.

[ kanaya, as usual, is keeping mostly to the sidelines, admiring the decorations, and possibly taking notes for patterns she'd like to explore in the future

she's dressed somewhat minimally for the occasion, but she had to prepare terezi's outfit at the last minute, so she at least had an excuse ]

[Huh, another one of the young ladies... Must be an internship program or somethin'.]

[Roxanne approaches and offers a smile and a hand.]

Hello! I'm Roxanne Ritchi. Are you one of the young ladies who works here as well?

[ kanaya's glow waxes for a moment at the stranger's approach, but she manages to get it to settle as she recognizes there's no threat in it. she meets roxanne's hand with her own ]

Oh! Yes, I'm Kanaya Maryam, Junior Fashion Consultant. My primary responsibility is outfitting the models, but I'm also allowed some input in the design and implementation of the featured ensembles.

Really?

[This just goes along with everything she's been finding out - the young people in this City really do a lot outside the norm. She shouldn't be surprised by that, though, after what she's seen.]

Are you enjoying your work here? Did you do similar things back home?
