Tom started assessing the man the moment he walked out. He'd been warned that Lupin knew his stuff, and it was immensely likely the man already knew what he was, if he was friendly with Ginny.

Though if he did, none of it showed. He seemed, on the surface, to be a kind and friendly professor, the way he had over the devices.

"Not at all, Professor," Tom answered with a faint smile of his own--just enough to be friendly, but also a little nervous. "I had some good directions."

Luckily for Remus, no one has deigned to share that information yet, so Tom is still far more concerned with his Defence experience and his allegiance to Dumbledore. And also with putting on a good show at least for as long as they were around people who could be fooled by it.

"Perhaps your classroom, sir? If that's all right with you, of course. I think I may end up spending the most time there."
