He stopped for a moment to pick up a perfectly-formed red leaf that had fluttered to the ground in front of him, his glowing yellow eyes examining it intently.

Snapping photos of various places to compare to previous photos she had seen in her research, she went to the locations most affected, and found evidence of replanting, but nothing of the fighting. The clean up crews had been very thorough.
But seeing the young-seeming imPort? That was too good to pass up.
"Excuse me?" she said, approaching Vivi. "I don't suppose you were in the City in the Black Tear rebellion?"
Reply
"Yes I was. Why?" he asked, putting the leaf back down and turning hi attention to the woman.

The security guards didn't like letting unknown people into the building, even if they had press passes or police badges. Kaiba was paranoid enough about industrial spies that he had passed it along to his employees. It was therefore lucky that Mokuba was getting to work from school and saw Roxanne nearing the entrance. He recognized her from their earlier conversation over the comm and brightened into a smile.
Waving enthusiastically, he dashed over to her, bouncing on his toes a little.
"Hi! Do you remember me? I remember who you are! You're the woman who gets kidnapped a lot!"

The Network was useful, but in person meetings always gave a lot more. And with her empathy at play -- well, she got an added bonus of 'a whole lot more'.

"Are you looking for work? Niisama doesn't hire people off the street, but I could help you get in if you need to. I'm the vice president."
Cocky 12 year old is cocky.

"No," she says, "I've got the employment angle covered. But I am interested to knowing more; what does Kaiba Corp do in the City?"

She glanced up from her communicator and looked around the foyer, hoping to spot her friend so that they could head out. She'd left enough time for a quick lunch if Roxanne had the inclination; otherwise, they could get something after their little primp-up.

She shrugged her shoulders, though. "Do you figure this is the sort of place they'll bring you fancy drinks in the middle of the day, or will we have to wait an hour or two for that bit?"

But she'll totally have to ask about it, once they get to the lovely little place; it's fairly typical. Mostly staffed with immigrants. Not a lot of English spoken. But they know their trade.

Not when he was still living at the MAC anyway. He was fixing that, but for the moment he lived in a building full with people the porter had deemed "heroes". Having your living residence widely known wasn't something you wanted in his business in the best of cases, and the MAC quadrupled those problems.
On top of that, Flint was trying to figure out how messed up this version of New York was, so he was doing something almost sensible for once. Scouting.

"Another time," she says to herself, and then turned-- finding herself nearly face to chest with the gentleman who had been scoping the location. "Oh--excuse me."
Sounds like that lady from the Network, who asked a bunch of nosy questions, doesn't she?

Flint recognizes her almost immediately. He doesn't need to make extra hands to count number of women he knows in the City.
He raises a hand in greeting and gives her a smirk.

Known criminal scoping a jewelry store? Color her surprised. "Looking for a bit of glitter for your girlfriend, Mr. Marko?" Or wondering about how a nice haul would suit you?

This isn't gonna end up online, is it? [Jokingly.]

[But once she has it, she gives it a good solid throw for him, before turning her attention to Conner.]
Probably not. I haven't done any serious blogging -- I work in TV mostly.
