Early Saturday morning, Central Park. vivi_sorrow October 9 2011, 01:25:03 UTC
Vivi was on his way to the book shop, but decided to take a detour through Central Park, since he liked the way it looked during autumn. He had a large backpack with him that had obviously seen a lot - there were multiple patches on it and was apparently very robust, even if it didn't seem to be carrying much right now.

He stopped for a moment to pick up a perfectly-formed red leaf that had fluttered to the ground in front of him, his glowing yellow eyes examining it intently.

The Black Tear was recent news, and thus, brought Roxanne out to investigate. Sure, the park had been greatly restored, but there were still opportunities to poke around in various parts of the park.

Snapping photos of various places to compare to previous photos she had seen in her research, she went to the locations most affected, and found evidence of replanting, but nothing of the fighting. The clean up crews had been very thorough.

But seeing the young-seeming imPort? That was too good to pass up.

"Excuse me?" she said, approaching Vivi. "I don't suppose you were in the City in the Black Tear rebellion?"

Vivi looked up when he heard someone speak to him. It was an oddly direct question, and his surprise was visible in his expression.

"Yes I was. Why?" he asked, putting the leaf back down and turning hi attention to the woman.

"I was just curious. I'm a reporter, and was wondering about perspective of the before and after," she replied. "I'm Roxanne Ritchi. What's your name?"

Friday afternoon, Kaiba Corp Tower the_other_kaiba October 9 2011, 02:39:00 UTC
[Kidnap victims unite!]

The security guards didn't like letting unknown people into the building, even if they had press passes or police badges. Kaiba was paranoid enough about industrial spies that he had passed it along to his employees. It was therefore lucky that Mokuba was getting to work from school and saw Roxanne nearing the entrance. He recognized her from their earlier conversation over the comm and brightened into a smile.

Waving enthusiastically, he dashed over to her, bouncing on his toes a little.

"Hi! Do you remember me? I remember who you are! You're the woman who gets kidnapped a lot!"

"Ah--" Yeah she hadn't heard that in the City yet before, but -- it wasn't incorrect. "Managed to go a couple of weeks without it so far, so -- knock on wood and all. But yes, I'm Roxanne. Nice to meet you in the flesh."

The Network was useful, but in person meetings always gave a lot more. And with her empathy at play -- well, she got an added bonus of 'a whole lot more'.

Mokuba grinned at her. Oh yeah. Attention for him. Niisama had been so busy the past few weeks it was like he wasn't there.

"Are you looking for work? Niisama doesn't hire people off the street, but I could help you get in if you need to. I'm the vice president."

Cocky 12 year old is cocky.

...twelve year old cocky vice president. And she thought Tim Drake-Wayne being part of WayneTech at 19 was weird. Child labor laws had to be in play here.

"No," she says, "I've got the employment angle covered. But I am interested to knowing more; what does Kaiba Corp do in the City?"

Friday Afternoon, entrance of the MAC andromynous October 9 2011, 04:06:06 UTC
Andromeda looked very much like she was nursing the tail-end of a full-blown hangover -- and she was. The mani-pedi date she'd set up with Roxanne was going to, she hoped, cure the last vestiges of it.

She glanced up from her communicator and looked around the foyer, hoping to spot her friend so that they could head out. She'd left enough time for a quick lunch if Roxanne had the inclination; otherwise, they could get something after their little primp-up.

"Hon, you look like you need some hair of the dog that bit you," Roxanne said once she caught sight of Andromeda. Her smile was wry-- and not just a little empathetic... Actually, it was a whole lot of empathetic, considering that she could feel the dragging weariness and muted unhappiness that rolled off Andromeda in waves.

"Yes, well. I had rather been hoping that my sister would actually stick with being dead the second time around." Well, second time for Andromeda. "But things rarely seem to go the way I'd like them to."

She shrugged her shoulders, though. "Do you figure this is the sort of place they'll bring you fancy drinks in the middle of the day, or will we have to wait an hour or two for that bit?"

That's not something you hear every day. "I don't think I've found any place that fancy," she says with a rueful smile. "But we can find a place afterwards, alright?"

But she'll totally have to ask about it, once they get to the lovely little place; it's fairly typical. Mostly staffed with immigrants. Not a lot of English spoken. But they know their trade.

Sunday morning, outside some jewelry store someonetoscold October 9 2011, 04:39:32 UTC
Flint Marko wasn't going to rob that store.

Not when he was still living at the MAC anyway. He was fixing that, but for the moment he lived in a building full with people the porter had deemed "heroes". Having your living residence widely known wasn't something you wanted in his business in the best of cases, and the MAC quadrupled those problems.

On top of that, Flint was trying to figure out how messed up this version of New York was, so he was doing something almost sensible for once. Scouting.

Funny, doesn't that woman over there stopping by the window also look quite familiar. She pauses to admire a set of earrings.

"Another time," she says to herself, and then turned-- finding herself nearly face to chest with the gentleman who had been scoping the location. "Oh--excuse me."

Sounds like that lady from the Network, who asked a bunch of nosy questions, doesn't she?

"Well if it isn't Roxanne Ritchie."

Flint recognizes her almost immediately. He doesn't need to make extra hands to count number of women he knows in the City.

He raises a hand in greeting and gives her a smirk.

"Mr. Marko?" She blinks up at the bigger man, before her smirk comes into play across her face.

Known criminal scoping a jewelry store? Color her surprised. "Looking for a bit of glitter for your girlfriend, Mr. Marko?" Or wondering about how a nice haul would suit you?

[Conner started school this week which means Krypto had to stay inside the Tower while he's been gone. At least he has the cats to play with - thankfully they seem to get along okay and he hasn't come home to any of them with fur missing. But it's not the big wide open fields of Kansas so once the weekend's arrived, Conner is taking his dog to the park in his Superboy outfit so he give Krypto some superdog exercise. This is currently involving catch with a baseball but he's hovering up a ways above the ground so he doesn't accidentally hit anyone with the ball, what with him throwing it pretty far and fast. Not so fast that Krypto can't get to it before it hits a building and breaks a window, though, since... that would be bad.]

[That's not something you see every day. Still out and about with her camera in areas that have been hit in super attacks (and every single park has had that honor at least once, from the looks of it) she didn't expect to see... imPort and imPort DOG enjoying themselves.]

[She parks herself on a bench, catching a couple of shots from below.]

[Krypto takes notice of the person before Conner does. He flies down and drops the ball at her feet, barking and wagging his tail. Conner floats down after him once he spots who he's headed towards, noting the camera. He gives a friendly smile.]

This isn't gonna end up online, is it? [Jokingly.]

[Roxanne is SO not sure what to do with a flying dog-- and then just rolls with extending her hand for him to sniff, before reaching for the ball slowly, to make sure he's not going to get resource protective. Dogs are funny animals.]

[But once she has it, she gives it a good solid throw for him, before turning her attention to Conner.]

Probably not. I haven't done any serious blogging -- I work in TV mostly.
