[ And in a certain corner of city hall is Hizzoner's office, which is where you'll need to go if you've got an appointment with him (spoiler: everyone does because Mitch is a workaholic and can't say no) and you'll be meeting him in the big office with the frosted windows. ]

[Fortunately Jack is a fellow workaholic which means he can make an ungodly appointment at a late hour so he has less competition for the Mayor's time. He enters the office in a suit and stands in front of the desk with his hands at his side.]

Mister Mayor.

[ And the Mayor appreciates the ungodly appointment, because he was in the middle of deliberating between reading the proposal for a new stoplight rotation down on Broadway, or the proposal to change the facades on some of the streets in the historic district. Both were going to be dry, but necessary to get through. The facades were winning, but he looked up, and set the papers down with as much grace as a man who didn't want to read them could. ]

Mr. Bauer, come in! How has the latest flood of new recruits been faring?

[Jack sympathizes Mister Mayor meeting you is an excellent way to get out of justifying helicopter expenses. You try finding the category for 'giant crow fist' on a repair cost form, I challenge you.]

Really well so far, sir. The native officers get better with every crop, especially now that Roberta's in charge. Being led by one of their own makes a difference. In terms of Imports, Jim Gordon's been a real asset. He's jumped into Vigilante Liaison with both feet, and he's got the kind of experience the force needs.
