Laura rarely slept soundly. There were only two occasions since she'd arrived in the city, in fact, that she'd slept an entire night through, and only a handful back home, even. So the light, barely audible tap on the glass where Jason was at the window caused her green eyes to open, staring at the ceiling. She didn't move at first, laying in her bed in her bedroom, at the far end of the apartment from the window where Jason was. She just...listened, filtering sounds out from the constant background hum of The City, trying to figure out what she'd heard.

It was the sound of something cutting glass that had her sitting up, and fifteen seconds or so later she was padding barefoot down the hallway in her tank top and pajama shorts, one hand pressed into the wall as if she were feeling for vibrations as she moved...

No one should have heard the sound. The replica of Ra's' knife was perfect, right down to the tempered steal that could cut through anything from stainless steal batarangs to diamond cord lines without a hitch. He resisted the urge to spit out a curse. Two months ago when Jason was looking for a fight, it would have been different. Thugs and arms dealers were different and didn't really require that amount of sneaking around. But seriously, he didn't want trouble. Just his goddamn jacket back ( ... )

Meanwhile Jessica had been soundly sleeping in her bedroom, tucked in all snug and secure, almost blissfully unaware of the two stealthy individuals about to come face to face across the apartment. She likely would have stayed asleep if not for the little brown dog that was now scraping at her bedroom door, trying to get out to investigate the goings-on outside. Groggily, the blonde growled softly at the puppy, rolled over, and buried her head in her pillow.

Jason's jacket? On the foot of her bed.

Laura stood framed in the hallway, her head tilted slightly to the side as she watched Jason. She seemed to be ignoring what he said, and for a moment she considered flat out attacking him. She wasn't all that concerned, no matter how dangerous he was or wasn't supposed to be.

Her green eyes narrowed finally. "You should leave." Whatever he wanted, whatever this did or didn't 'look' like, she wanted him out of her apartment.
