You know, seeing Sirius Black fly past your window is one thing. See him cartwheel past it, that's another. Snape was just listening to the chatter on the network when there Sirius went, pinwheeling across the sky like a whirlygig gone mad ( ... )

Sirius feels the magic coalesce around him, benevolent and protective, but the wind in his ears masks even Snape's distinctive voice. It has the odd effect of focusing Sirius's mind - he had an annoyingly instinctive knack for magic that had always let him stay at the top of their year without trying very hard, but he was always better when he wasn't thinking too hard about what he was trying to do. Frustration at the broom had left him scattered and ineffectual, but now he reached out and put his hand here and spent his will there and soon had the thing under control.

"Ta for that. Forgot which way was up for a moment th- ...Oh."

This would mark the point at which Sirius finally turned and saw his savior's face.

"You forget a great deal, as I recall," Snape says, just -- floating there.

In mid aid. No broom.

Sweat is beading on his brow; this little trick will cost him, so soon. Focus is hard to keep. But once Sirius is righted, he releases the shield, putting his wand away. He wonders if that is prudent; this is Sirius Black, after all, and the man has never been wise about choosing his battles.

"Fresh from Azkaban. Hrmph. Someone else can fill you in on the rest, then." He drifts backward, slowly--wary. He will never trust Sirius, but there's good reason for that: He's never been able to, not once.

What.

The.

Hell.

"...How are y-" Sirius's amazement is almost enough to overcome his hatred. Which should tell you just how amazed he is, because that is a LOT of hatred. And here it is, all in his face.

"What, running away, Snape? Lost your taste for revenge now that there aren't a flock of Dementors to do the dirty work for you?"

[ Anders has resigned to the fact that this city was both very strange and a very welcome vacation from the mage-fearing land of Fereldon. He's out and about (wearing...whatever passed as normal for the people here) when once again something seemingly strange yet not very surprising stumbles into his line of sight.

It would be very useful if the Circle taught him how to conjure up pillows in case of falling men, but that would be going against everything the Circle stood for--being relevant. ]

I hope he doesn't fall on my head. [ Anders sighs, watching warily. ]

[The endless barrel rolls were just getting annoying at this point. Sirius had at least managed to slow down, but every time he tried to come to a full stop, the broom just angled up and up and slowly over, and there was only so much of that a man could take.

On his next ascent, Sirius hatched a plan. Well it wasn't so much a plan as a gambit, to be perfectly honest, but it really seemed to be about the only thing left to him to do. The broom flew gradually down, and just as it started going gradually back up again, Sirius let go. He'd angled things as carefully as possible, so that he soared over the ground in a low arc, bounced slightly, and rolled along, ending up more or less at Anders's feet.

"Well. That went well."

Smooth landing. [ Anders quips, looking down at the man. If only raining men were a regular occurrence ] Was there a reason why you were flying on a broom? It didn't seem to like you very much.

[If there is one thing that Lily does not expect to see, but isn't too surprised about seeing (when she thinks about it, anyway), it's Sirius Black, flying through the air with the greatest of ease.

Once she gets over the initial panic of seeing Sirius being....Sirius, Lily sighs, and casts a cushioning charm, to soften his landing.]

((QUICK OOC CHECK IN: Would you like to give Lily an excuse to dive in between Snape and Sirius in order to prevent them from doing grievous harm to one another? :D :D :D))

HOPEFULLY THIS IS OKAY. IF NOT THAT'S COOL I WILL RE-WRITE IT. purmoncul July 29 2011, 21:27:46 UTC
He never makes it down. A spell engulfs him, protecting him for the time he needs to get the broom under controll, and then she can see... a black shape float out of one of the MAC windows. Severus?

Oh. That's probably not good.

They exchange words...seemingly calmly enough, for a few brief minutes, as Snape returns to the window. Then Sirius starts following him. And then Sirius is yelling, and magic starts to flash.

"Whooph!" says the someone else, who spun a few feet away, but soon enough a hand took hold of her ankle, and slowed her fall.

"Hello, Lyra. Sorry about that, this broom's ...touchy."

"I'm trying to make a broom that's more responsive to it's rider. We steer by touch and shifting weight, so the more sensitive the broom, the closer you wed its motion to the rider's will. Think I may have gone too far on this one, though. Sorry if I rattled you!"

Mike sits on an out of the way rooftop eating lunch when a man on a broom zooms past him.

His eyes go wide, and his jaw goes slack.

The man on the broom would enjoy that more if he wasn't cartwheeling about... but then he was a wizard so surely that was on purpose.

"HELLO! Turtle-friend! If I throw you a line, would you be so good as to anchor it to something? It's gone rogue on me."

...Or not.

"You mean it's not supposed to do that?"

What does Mike know of flying brooms?
Then he winces, of course it shouldn't fly like that. That's like suggesting a rodeo is how one properly rides a horse.

In no time at all Mike's on his feet.

"Toss it! I got you!"

A conjured rope comes flying down to Mike.

"You'll want to tie it to something secure!"

Sirius suspected that the turtles were heavier than most humans - they just had an air of solidity to them - but he didn't want to risk yanking Mike off the roof.
