The chills had started two days after he had been bitten. When he had met up with Blue and Keiko, to be exact. He had lied to her when he joked about not being bit, but hadn't thought anything of it. The ever-stubborn belief that one was invincible, a bad trait left over from being a champion. It wasn't until the chills had started that he looked back at the rat bite on his ankle; a lapse of focus on his part. Thought back on the warnings broadcast on the network and slowly put the pieces together.
He decided to wait it out, as he had with other illnesses. He had been lucky in the long run, never having contracted more than four in his life. And when he had, when not on the run, the doctors in the stadium would take care of him. And while here there were doctors… well. To be honest, Baroona was somewhat afraid of what modern day hospitals might look like, fearing it to look like the subway. Besides, it was just chills. And a headache. And muscle pains.
And a fever.
The point is, he could deal with it, and he did. He spent the first three days going about his normal duties. All the while his sickness got worse and worse, more and more apparent. Today, the fourth day, was especially bad. He not only felt sick, but looked it as well, moving slower than he did normally, limbs feeling heavy, breathing becoming a laborious act. He finds his muscles aching more so than before. Which could be why he's currently slumped in a comfortable seat in the living room, wondering why the room feels so damn hot.
