The woman that entered the visitor's room then was not the Angelica Einstürzen the world had previously known. Underneath the scientist's coat, the leather gloves, and the red lipstick was the phantom that came to sit across from Norman. She was nothing but pale skin, so paper thin that her veins showed. There was something common about the way the orderlies had pulled and tied the miles of hair back from her face. Her hands and arms were strangely bare.

But her eyes still had the same unblinking stare.

"Hello, Norman."

"Angelica."

He smiled, folding his hands in front of him. In sharp contrast with Angelica's washed out appearance, Norman was looking sharper and in better health than he had in months. He kept the smugness off his face.

"You look well."

Despite the sedatives that were no doubt running through her blood, Angelica seemed vaguely agitated somehow. Her face gave away nothing-- calm, almost serene-- but her hands, those gloveless fingers, they fidgeted. And while it had always been difficult to read the good doctor's neuroses, there was something off, something distracted, despite the composure in her face.

At Norman's remark, her lips pulled back into a jagged little smile.

"You didn't come here just to feed lies to me, did you?"

"Well," he inclined his head, "I did want to see how hospitalization was treating you. How goes the therapy? Medication doing the job?" He sat back, self-satisfied.

"Though more than anything else, I thought we could talk. You've been rather busy, haven't you?"
