Whose projection could this possibly be?
It's pure military habit that makes him stop and look her over. Arthur sees things that other people miss because he understands the details of things: that and the glow around her, something that occasionally happens in dreams.
But the totem doesn't lie.
Arthur pauses for long enough that he can be classified as staring.

She only notices a man standing before her when her eyes settle back on the street. Any remains of that glow fade swiftly in that moment. A soft but genuine grin then forms, somewhere between a bashful and amused, like she just remembered something funny and unrelated. Nina's tone is drowsy and playful.
"Is there something on my face?"
Reply
Lie.
"I didn't mean to stare."
Reply
"Why, thank you."
Her gaze lowers with the last word. Nina frowns when she notices her hands after a pause (a smaller wave of a pattern of light, too quick to be noticed), rubbing her fingertips together like someone spreading ash on their digits with another dazed smile on her lips.
"... My hands are sweaty." It's a mutter, contemplative and absent-minded.
She feels like she's said this before.

He sighed and started to make his way home when he saw a delicate woman walking down the street, apparently in some sort of trance. Normally he would've just noted her presence and continued home, but there was something about her that drew his attention...
He waited until she was close enough to talk to before opening the punnet.
"U-umm... would you like a strawberry?"
Not much of an opening line, but Vivi wasn't that good at thinking on his feet outside of a fight.

"That's so nice of you." And after a beat, "I would like one, please."

Now that he was closer to her, he could feel... something about her. Something... magical. Not the same as his, but magical all the same. Maybe too much...
He shook his head, to clear the thought. "I'm Vivi."
Reply
"It's nice to meet you, Vivi." Her voice grew a little thicker with her cheerful disposition. "I'm Nina." She looked around after a beat. "Are you alone?"

She wasn't a fan of magic. But from everyone who'd mentioned this odd little change, it seemed harmless enough. And of course, curiosity.
The clothing shift left her in something barely tolerable, even for a girl used to running around in skintight leather. Still, she explored the little section of town and its strange zombie-like population for a good twenty minutes before leaving. It was a relief when her clothes melted back to their proper shape. She could handle corsets, but all the rest was too damn heavy.
She was making her way back into the normal part of town when she spotted the girl. A familiar face, someone she'd spoken to on the network. And an odd bit of a glow around her.

For now, Nina seemed completely unaware of any kind of distant or close observers.

"Hey."

"Hello. Am I standing in your way?"

She was pretty enough, in a 'looked like she could break' sort of way -- and besides, he hadn't met her yet, nor seen her on the network. This was more than enough reason to introduce himself, and to make sure she was alright. She looked a bit ...off, to say the least. He slowed down and gave the girl a nod, grinning.
"Evening."
Reply
"Good evening."

"And who do I have the pleasure of meeting?"
Reply
She shrugged lazily. "And I'm fine... More than fine." She muttered, head tilting with grace and inattention. Neither attitude or tone showed any signs of sobriety. "Is that a weird thing, Jack Harkness?"

Tyler Durden was a vindictive son of a bitch.
And lo, here was Nina. The voice on the communicator. The girl with blood on her clothes. The girl who shyed away from him like he was something dangerous (he is) and oh, isn't this lovely. ]
Don't you look happy.
Reply
Oh... [A little exhale, not quite a laugh, her tone fluctuating.] I shouldn't be talking to you.
Reply
And why's that?
Reply
Nina smiles again, a little differently than before, a subtle wave of color (green, blue and black) running from the corner of her eye to her temple. It disappears immediately after that one display, like a light running out of energy.
She giggles, anything but innocently.]
Because you're dangerous.
