Arthur is looking as sharply dressed as he usually does as he walks down the street, and he notices her before she notices him, but that's short lived. She's a tiny thing, small like Ariadne but frailer. She looks like she could break with just a tiny bit of pressure on her bones, like a bird.

Whose projection could this possibly be?

It's pure military habit that makes him stop and look her over. Arthur sees things that other people miss because he understands the details of things: that and the glow around her, something that occasionally happens in dreams.

But the totem doesn't lie.

Arthur pauses for long enough that he can be classified as staring.

Nina is touching her neck idly as she walks, looking like she's feeling the texture of her skin for the very first time. She makes a circular and slow movement with her head as she looks down, then slowly brings her eyes upwards to observe something in the distance with very careful attention.

She only notices a man standing before her when her eyes settle back on the street. Any remains of that glow fade swiftly in that moment. A soft but genuine grin then forms, somewhere between a bashful and amused, like she just remembered something funny and unrelated. Nina's tone is drowsy and playful.

"Is there something on my face?"

He starts for a moment, and he puts his fingers casually in his pant pockets. "No, there's nothing," he tells her, because there isn't. "Sorry, I think your bone structure is remarkable."

Lie.

"I didn't mean to stare."

Nina chuckles at that, like the arrangement and timing of his words produced the perfect quip. She shrugs and brushes her hair with her fingers, shaking her head softly. He looks so serene and composed, like a true gentleman. Maybe even a prince.

"Why, thank you."

Her gaze lowers with the last word. Nina frowns when she notices her hands after a pause (a smaller wave of a pattern of light, too quick to be noticed), rubbing her fingertips together like someone spreading ash on their digits with another dazed smile on her lips.

"... My hands are sweaty." It's a mutter, contemplative and absent-minded.

She feels like she's said this before.

Mid-evening, near a supermarket. vivi_sorrow March 30 2011, 22:31:20 UTC
Vivi almost looked disappointed as he left the supermarket with his punnet of strawberries. The usual fruit and vegetable market he went to was closed by the time he got there, so he had to make do with supermarket strawberries. They didn't taste quite as nice as the grocery ones did for some reason, but he couldn't quite figure out why.

He sighed and started to make his way home when he saw a delicate woman walking down the street, apparently in some sort of trance. Normally he would've just noted her presence and continued home, but there was something about her that drew his attention...

He waited until she was close enough to talk to before opening the punnet.

"U-umm... would you like a strawberry?"

Not much of an opening line, but Vivi wasn't that good at thinking on his feet outside of a fight.

Nina stopped and looked at the boy with kind and attentive eyes, taking a moment to observe the offering in his hand. It looked like she hadn't been able to fully understand his question until a few seconds after, in a way, when she finally gave him a soft gasp and a touched smile.

"That's so nice of you." And after a beat, "I would like one, please."

Vivi gave the woman a smile and offered the open punnet to her. "Take your pick. They should be nice," he said, looking up at her from under his hat.

Now that he was closer to her, he could feel... something about her. Something... magical. Not the same as his, but magical all the same. Maybe too much...

He shook his head, to clear the thought. "I'm Vivi."

Her mind was completely beyond any suspicions or musings, leaning over to take a good look inside. She pursed her lips in a very polite manner, like one would to emphasize the good deeds of a child. She finally picked one strawberry and took a little bite from its tip.

"It's nice to meet you, Vivi." Her voice grew a little thicker with her cheerful disposition. "I'm Nina." She looked around after a beat. "Are you alone?"

Curiosity, of course. Selina couldn't resist checking out the little transformed area of the City. She didn't mention it to anyone, of course. She didn't want witnesses.

She wasn't a fan of magic. But from everyone who'd mentioned this odd little change, it seemed harmless enough. And of course, curiosity.

The clothing shift left her in something barely tolerable, even for a girl used to running around in skintight leather. Still, she explored the little section of town and its strange zombie-like population for a good twenty minutes before leaving. It was a relief when her clothes melted back to their proper shape. She could handle corsets, but all the rest was too damn heavy.

She was making her way back into the normal part of town when she spotted the girl. A familiar face, someone she'd spoken to on the network. And an odd bit of a glow around her.

Nina seemed to be admiring something in the distance when she hugged herself with a shrug, shutting her eyes to feel the wind on her skin. The small amount of people passing by her gave her weird looks, either wondering why she'd taken upon herself to simply stand there or if they really had seen a pattern of light run from her cheek to her temple. Some wondered about both things.

For now, Nina seemed completely unaware of any kind of distant or close observers.

She seemed to be doing better than when Selina had first talked to her. Still, she approached slowly, let herself be seen.

"Hey."

She took her time after she heard Selina's voice, as if the distinct greeting had slowly pulled her from an absent state of mind to something a little more alert. Nina nodded softly and smiled, arms dropping to her sides. There was no sign of familiarity when she continued.

"Hello. Am I standing in your way?"

Jack is out and about, as he tends to be. Even with the Doctor jobless, he still found living in suburbia terribly boring, so he'd taken to wandering a bit, and found himself in a strange version of Victorian England. He'd taken to this with a surprising amount of ease -- you get used to weird things when you time travel. At any rate, as he headed out of the not!London, he caught sight of someone heading his way.

She was pretty enough, in a 'looked like she could break' sort of way -- and besides, he hadn't met her yet, nor seen her on the network. This was more than enough reason to introduce himself, and to make sure she was alright. She looked a bit ...off, to say the least. He slowed down and gave the girl a nod, grinning.

"Evening."

Nina stared at the man for a moment, noticing his height, his build and... his smile. What a charming smile, she thought, just about enough to keep her staring in admiration. And then, as if she'd suddenly become self-conscious, Nina laughed. It was something closer to a chuckle, still finishing by the time she finally answered, probably a little too amused.

"Good evening."

"You alright?" Jack grinned at the laugh and stepped forward, hands in his pockets. "The City's got some weird things going lately and I --" He paused a bit and shrugged. "I kinda specialize in weird things. Name's Jack Harkness," he continued, offering a hand.

"And who do I have the pleasure of meeting?"

The answer came slowly, still far too entertained, fingers curling softly around Jack's hand. "My name is... Nina."

She shrugged lazily. "And I'm fine... More than fine." She muttered, head tilting with grace and inattention. Neither attitude or tone showed any signs of sobriety. "Is that a weird thing, Jack Harkness?"

/SLAMS TYLER IN HERE chipsfalling March 30 2011, 23:55:45 UTC
[ Tyler had come to see the show, so to speak. It was the kind of thing that would drive the Narrator up the wall, something so inexplicable and fucked up, and Tyler wanted to push at it, touch it, see it crawl over his hands. He wanted to carry memories of it back with him to smash against the Narrator's conciousness at three in the morning when he was trying (failing) to sleep.

Tyler Durden was a vindictive son of a bitch.

And lo, here was Nina. The voice on the communicator. The girl with blood on her clothes. The girl who shyed away from him like he was something dangerous (he is) and oh, isn't this lovely. ]

Don't you look happy.

[Nina has to stare at him for a beat before she realizes who it is. There's a familiar look in her eyes that vanishes as quickly as it appears, replaced by a playful grin. She can't quite seem to control herself when she speaks.]

Oh... [A little exhale, not quite a laugh, her tone fluctuating.] I shouldn't be talking to you.

[ This is new. ]

And why's that?

[Tyler's presence has an ingrown effect on her, even if neither realizes it at the moment, and any fear that would normally take over her mood is altered in the way it begins to manifest.

Nina smiles again, a little differently than before, a subtle wave of color (green, blue and black) running from the corner of her eye to her temple. It disappears immediately after that one display, like a light running out of energy.

She giggles, anything but innocently.]

Because you're dangerous.
