MALL ATTACK #1 killerjoke February 5 2011, 20:41:28 UTC
[Piled in SUVs and vans, the lackeys all double checked their weapons. Each one of them had automatics or shotguns, prepared to take out as many people as possible. It was a sick job but they had been paid good money, really good money, so most of them could be a little sick for that. Pulling into the parking lot two dozen men or so all geared up for what was probably going to be the most violent shooting spree any of them would be involved in.]

Two hours and a series of frantic phone calls had barely been enough to get the mall evacuated and locked down before the attack could begin, especially while making it look like it was still open. The police wanted to nail the Joker's men, and had turned the massacre into a trap. A moment after the would-be mass murderers entered the mall lobby, Import officers and native SWAT appeared on the second floor, aiming down at them from the railing ( ... )

Seras snarled and returned fire. Idiots! They didn't stand a chance with all of STARS here. She zeroed in on one of the mercs in particular as he dived behind a cellphone stand for cover. Using her third eye Seras aimed and sent a bullet straight through the stand and right into the man's chest. Unfortunately, since she'd been forced to leave the Harkonnen behind due to the collateral damage issues she'd had to use a far less powerful rifle. The result was while the bullet found its mark it didn't have enough energy to penetrate through the gunman's vest.

It did however knock him on his rear and give him a hell of a scare, enough so that he scrambled to his feet and tried to put some distance between him and Seras.

It didn't take a genius to figure out that he was under fire but his face didn't show any signs of revealing fear or the like. Sheldon takes his position behind a counter and begins to open fire to buy time for the others to get through and inside the mall. As being a member of S.T.A.R.S. also meant having to deal with all the thankless altruism that goes with it.

Quietly, he picks off his targets that he knew that others might not catch. Shooting one off a balcony wasn't that hard for him. "One."

Jack crouched by an escalator as bullets flew above his head, returning fire with an MP-7, a submachine gun firing rifle-sized rounds. Two bursts put one of the attackers down, bleeding onto shiny linoleum. Beside Jack, a native SWAT officer put three bullets through another man, knocking him back into a fountain. He fell, splashing among coins that children had tossed in for wishes.

The lobby was a shooting gallery and the attackers knew it. Some of them continued to fire upwards at the police, others ran back outside and promptly got into a firefight with the newly-arrived perimeter cops in the parking lot. But many of them scattered to the sides, down halls and into stores. None of them were surrendering, not yet. Jack swore loudly. The situation was becoming less contained.

Raimi stayed behind cover at first. He'd handled fire fights against large numbers before. After getting a good look at the situation and what everyone else was doing he hit the speed boost on his armor.

It was a little surreal, moving at this speed while still in his body. Sound was distorted. He could pick his shots while moving and watch the trajectory of bullets in motion. A quick burst sent a handful at two of the attacking gunmen and he watched them crawl forward at a lazy pace. He was about as far from where he'd shot as the bullets were, continuing on his path and picking another good angle to fire from.

John picked those shots more carefully but didn't slow down, aiming for a group that was turning to run but far, far too slowly. He was back behind cover before any bullet reached its target and deactivating the super speed. Sound seemed to catch up to him all at once in a deafening roar and he took a careful look out from behind cover to see that he'd hit with most of his shots. He reloaded, checking the energy level on the

"I've got them, sir!" Seras said as she leaped from her position above and dropped down to the ground floor, taking off after some of the mercs that had headed down the halls. It didn't take her long to catch up with them, but unfortunately she wasn't fast enough to stop them from taking cover in a nearby movie theatre. They opened fire the second they saw her and she was forced to dive for cover in an Orange Julius stand.

Apparently her earlier shot hadn't been enough intimidate them. She hated having to kill them, they were humans after all, but if that's what it took to get them to back down so be it. She popped back up, leaning over the counter and drew a bead on one of them turning his head into a canoe. Messy, but maybe that would do the trick.

Beside him, while making his way towards the inside of the mall through the merchandising transport area, a man whimpered, dragging his body on the floor.

"My legs... I can't... feel my legs..."

Mamoru almost didn't go there, to make sure these sad SOBs got what they deserved and didn't run away at the first sign of an ambush. Some petulant part of him had been reluctant when Haruka told him that she had warned the police. Back in Tokyo, it's not like they did their job.

This wasn't Tokyo, though, and little girl or not, he somewhat learned to trust her judgment about some things. So he decided to take a little... sightseeing. And by the sound of it, boy, they were letting themselves go.

So through a thin corridor towards the back door of a store, slicing a goon's tendons on the back of his knees while he was at it, he found himself ducking behind a counter when he counted the gun fire of four... no, five machine guns ( ... )

Jack fired the last few rounds in his weapon, sending another target spinning lifelessly to the floor, and then used the few seconds it took to reload for taking stock. The police were still fine, aside from a SWAT officer down, being tended to for a bullet in his arm. His radio was squawking with the information that the hostiles outside were falling back and regrouping around the vans and SUVs they'd come in with.

Poking his head over the railing, he saw that Seras and John had largely contained the breakaway groups and that the lobby floor was dotted with dead or wounded mercenaries. But there were still enough able and willing to fight to be a major threat. One of them fired a KGP-9 above Jack's head, hitting a light, and Jack ducked and covered his skin as fiery sparks and shards of glass rained down around him. Even as he did, a lull in the shooting from below and a series of clicking noises told him the enemy was reloading.

The mercs decided that trading shots with Seras like this would end badly for them so they fell back further into the theater hoping that the darkness would help them escape. Too bad for them it would just make it that much easier for her.

Caught up in the moment Seras grinned and slide over the counter of the Orange Julius stand and dashed forward toward the theater's entrance. This was followed by a loud crash as she kicked in the doors to the darkened theater. The mercs had scattered already except for one straggler who had apparently been counting on the sudden change from bright light to darkness to throw her off long enough for him to run away. It didn't. Moving quickly she tackled him, pinned his arm behind his back and cuffed him before he "Stay put!"
