It doesn't take all that long. Without anything in the way of family to speak of, Pete is not nearly as overworked as he looks, particularly this time of year. He hasn't had to set foot in a mall in months, and you can bet his apartment is undecorated (and some of the rooms look un-lived in. Others make up for this by being utter wrecks).

The uniform doesn't get so much as a glance from him: Neopolis boasts a sort of steampunk aesthetic, and plenty of science heroes adopted various miltitary uniforms of wars they never fought in (or sometimes did). Also, the whole place was built by Nazi super scientists, some of whom are still hanging around the place. Pete's own aesthetic is leaning back towards orange tracksuits in the absence of a lady-friend to set him straight. The antenna of his ever-present headset lay back against his shoulders like an annoyed dog.

"You Von Hammer?"

The uniform isn't there to impress. It is more a matter of the fact that he could not consider any other option for such a day as this. Uniforms, by themselvs, signify nothing. He has seen far too many empty-headed fools in them to believe anything else.

He stands, bowing stiffly from the neck and clicking his heels. That is something else to remember. He is the 'old guard' to his very core.

"I am. Major Hans Von Hammer, at your service."

Pete nods. That's some formal salutery, and he appreciates that kind of thing.

"Better at our service than against it. So. Tell me again what's it you're lookin' to do for us, exactly?"

This is the closest to a test any potential member of City P.D. faces: so long as you don't answer something like: I'm looking to make them all bleed!, you're in. And somtimes even if you do answer that. It's a case by case basis.

Totally ok! We're getting lucky here, and it isn't dropping any more. the_enemy_ace December 29 2010, 19:27:32 UTC
He almost smiles at the first statement. This one has a brain. A good sign. Right to business, too, not any beating about the bush. No political statements or any propagandistic nonsense ( ... )
