[She kind of likes to think she's gotten good at tailing Terry, even when he's flying. She's certainly had enough practice by now. Catching a glimpse of that black and red anywhere in the city is pretty much a formal invitation by now, and it's far from the first time she's started an impromptu tail (stalk session, if you must). And now that it's winter and her suit involves more black and less fluttering yellow, there might even be a chance that she might get away with it. Maybe. It's what she's hoping, anyway, as she clears a water tower and ducks around a rooftop air conditioning unit.]

[At this point he's used to it, so when he catches movement out of the corner of his eye, it's habit to turn around and look and entirely unsurprising when he sees red hair. And, though he's sure that he could lose her if he tried to, it just doesn't seem worth it. But still, for fun, he vanishes - literally, uses the electric cameo unit to fade right out - and swings around to land behind her, switching it back off as he does so.]

You're gonna get yourself killed some day.

[She doesn't bother to start, or jump, or anything like that. The only sign of disappointment at having been caught is a quick slump of her shoulders, then she's turning around to flash a grin.]

S'okay. I figure death's more or less temporary around here, anyway.

[That gets her a Look more than just about anything else would.]

Go home.

[He turns to jump back off the roof.]

[ Rooftops. Patrolling. You'd think she had always been part of Bruce's little family. But her search for the Joker was her own and she sure as hell didn't take orders. Not to mention she usually worked alone. ]

[Weird to think of Catwoman being here, young and hot and the villain that Bruce fell for instead of 80-something (was she even still alive?) and who knew where.

Terry was flying more than patrolling, but there were so many heroes here anyway that it didn't seem to matter, besides which he could see more this way, and it helped him think. Still, just flying didn't stop him from doing things. so when he saw some lady jumping from rooftops, he swooped down.]

... Catwoman?

[One of the perks of having alternate versions of himself precede him in the City was that Bruce only need be around for the pay-off of some of his paranoid tendencies. An earlier Bruce had already fitted Terry's suit with a tracer and he only had to listen for the beep.

Bruce pursues him at a discreet distance in the batmoblie as he makes his patrol through the air, but pulls in when the police radio band tells of an incident a few blocks ahead. He'd give Terry the time to reach the scene first so that Bruce could observe the younger Bat's movements from the rooftops.]

[It wasn't an earlier Bruce in the City who had fitted his suit with a homing device, it was the original Bruce, the one who had built the thing in the first place. So it wasn't entirely surprising that Bruce himself would be able to link back in, despite being years behind technologically where he had been. After all, it wasn't like he had to rebuild the thing. He just had to find it ( ... )

[Bruce watches coolly, intently from his perch. The boy has finesse, perhaps not the level he's used to having surrounded himself with now relative veterans like Dick and Tim, but skill nonetheless. And he's ruthless, too. A kind of ruthless he doesn't see nearly as often as he would like...

That, perhaps, gives him reason to pause. Jason had been his kind of ruthless, too.]

[Terry started fighting on the streets, in a gang not too different from this one, just another punk kid. There's something of that in his fighting style, something brutally efficient more than elegant. The kid fights dirtier than most of the family members do, but he does it well. And he's not only a scrapper, Bruce taught him a whole mixture of martial moves while he was home, and gymnastic moves, which were accented by the parkour he'd already known.

Flip, kick, punch punch punch, someone was down, someone grabbed him from behind to choke him-]

"-all you goddamn imports, all of you think you're God or some bullshit like that-"

"And here I thought I was just being a good citizen."

"Oh, that's-[-and twist throw spin oh slag another of them had a gun, he crouched and swept a leg out to trip them as he spun and hurled one of his pairs of linked spiked batarangs at the guy he'd just tossed to pin him to the wall, guy with the gun fell over, and Terry broke a few of her fingers in the process of making the gun so suddenly and ( ... )
