Jaime had decided to go for a jog in Central Park after school, and was focusing very hard on trying to keep her speed "human-normal." Focusing so hard, in fact, she nearly ran into a man standing in the middle of the sidewalk.

About to apologize, she noted where he was staring -- at the dragon, of all things, in the Reservoir. She also noted it was more interested in dispatching piranhas than devouring people, so she hoped it was friendly.

She walked past the man with a muttered, "Watch where you're standing," and moved slowly toward the dragon.

"Ah... a... are you a good dragon or a bad dragon?"

Ysera's eyes were closed, as usual. But she was not so engrossed in ridding the lake of the unnatural fish to not be paying attention to those around her. She could sense very clearly the fantasy-laden musings and imaginings of those watching her. Many were frightened. But quite a few more were quite fascinated or enthralled to see a fantasy come to life - even in a City as filled with fantastic people as the City had come to be since the Porter began bringing in Imports ( ... )

"I... will." Jaime jumped back about five feet as the dragon stomped the fish, grimacing at the squashed results.

"Can... can I help somehow?" She looked around, trying to see if there was maybe a net or something with which she could corral the fish. She stepped forward again, and a still flopping fish attempted a last-ditch desperate leap to bury itself in Jaime's leg--to find it was not nibbling on anything edible.

Jaime slapped the fish away with a squeal, harder than she'd intended, and it flew a good ways away, landing safely squashed and dead in a nearby copse of trees.

Ysera turned her head sharply at the squeal, dropping her enormous head down close to the human woman, the tip of her snout only a few meters away. "Are you injured?"

Despite his rude introduction to it, Kurama had taken to Central Park like...well, like a fish to water. That the city had such a green and growing heart was a comfort to him, and whenever the MAC became too suffocating, he would find a place in it to sit, and stretch his senses out into the calming green.

So he knew something very strange and very large was suddenly moving through the place before word spread, not because he saw it, but because the dragon's movements sent vast ripples moving through the network of green and growing things that was around.

Ysera was thus only just entering the water when he ran up, but before his brain could fully process that the thing was a dragon, he had to dodge out of the way of the first of the flung piranha. "What in the world?"

Ysera turned her head to regard the newcomer with closed eyes. He looked like a human, but there was something unusual, and even unfamiliar, about the mortal. She rumbled and lowered her head closer toward him where he stood on the shore.

"Do be careful of the fish. They are quite vicious." For such an enormous creature, her voice is quite gentle and kind sounding, and very feminine.

As if to demonstrate, she lifted her foreleg out of the water. There were already at least ten piranha already latched onto her scales with their jaws, though some fell off back into the water. The water around her forelegs was beginning to churn with other voracious mutant fish.

She snorted then reached out to flick most of the fish off of her foreleg and onto the shoreline - carefully a distance away from Kurama.

His initial surprise past, Kurama looked back up at her without apparent fear.

"Which is only a problem for some of us, it would seem." Kurama ran his hand through his hair and (with a slight surge of demonic energy) suddenly a long whip made of a thorny rosevine appeared in his hand. A few quick flicks and first the fish still clinging to her leg and then those flopping angrily on the ground were beheaded.

"Are you looking for something?"

Ysera lifted her wings in slight surprise, and interest, at his near-druidic control of the plant. However, there was no mistaking the feel of magical energies from another plane... In fact, they felt more akin to the chaotic energies of the Twisting Nether and it's demonic denizens than to true druidic energy. She restrained her automatic distaste for demonic energies down to merely lashing her tailtip in displeasure.

This mortal child did not have the feel of the Burning Legion about him. And yet... there was something inhuman about him. It was enough to pique her interest. Especially as he was using apparently demonic plane energy as a substitute for druidic power ( ... )
